Putting aside Specialbruce's highly unlikely scenario of Champs making a comeback, I'm kinda wondering who the club should give the #1 jumper to next season.

They could just put it in mothballs for a year or two, I suppose.

Voosy might be a candidate but Vossy in anything but #3 just wouldn't seem right.

You could give it to one of the Scotts (either would do the#1 proud)

Or maybe an up and comer who is likely to have a lengthy tenure at the club.

How about Jamie Charman?

Just the thought of all the things that Dessy got just to keep him happy makes me cranky all over again.

I think we put it on mothballs so we don't get reminded of him.

I always think of Nigel Lappin, when I think of numbers. Nigel is a highly respected and top class player but never gave up his #44, no matter what, and that is not to say he couldn't have any number he wanted.

I would think that would be the same for the Scott brothers, they are #5 & #22 and they always will be.

......and footballers being a superstitious lot, I doubt they would change their numbers now after two Premiership Medals.

But I really like the idea of Jamie having the number, but again I have gotten to know Jamie as #19, maybe Cupido?

This could be Cupido chance and there is no greater opportunity for this boy than now and taking the number #1, and I believe it would suit him.

I understand your anger towards Mr Headland, but doing what you suggest would just inflate, what is already turning out to be, a very big ego.

Des just isn't that important to us.

I have already forgotten about him, because what has made this team great in today's modern football, is that they all play for each other, and Des just isn't of that quality, and I doubt he ever will be.

All I am doing now is running through the list we do have, Voss, Black, Akermanis, Lappin, Johnson, Leppitsch, Power, if I continue, I will end up naming the whole team, but you get the picture.

Des is no-one that is important to me or the stability and strength of my team.

Beau McDonald.
He's #43 at the moment, but he'll be in our XXII for the next decade or so.

I think Lapps, Beau, Aker, Vossy, The Scotts, Blackie, and others have all established themselves in relation to their number. eg. When you think 3, you think Voss.

But Jamie has only had one year in the 19 guernsey. Considering the way he handled himself this year, especially over the finals, I reckon it would be fitting to hand him the number one guernsey. He's the future.

Give the No. 1 jumper to the player the Lions pick up with the early draft pick, gained from trading Headland in this year's National Draft.

For example if we gain the #5 pick from Fremantle, I'm sure one of Byron Schammer, Steven Salopek, Paul Shelton, Jason Winderlich, Bo Nixon, Jay Schulz or Paul Johnson would be very happy to wear the number.

If Headland isn't traded, perhaps as some have already said, Jamie Charman would be a good choice.

Hey wasn't Dessy #19 before too?

Yes, Des Headland's first jumper was No 19. If you chose to give the No 1 jumper to Charman I wish you a lot better luck than you had with Headland. I am old school and hate all this free trade of players, I like seeing top players oplay their entire careers at one club, a rare commodity these days.

I'd say Blacky, but his #20 is now kinda engraved in my memory, it'd confuse me if he changed. :p LOL

Also Beau, but that'd be too much hassle for Kaz to change her Bigfooty name. ;)

I find Simon to be a humble and gracious man and I doubt he would change it, as he won his Brownlow and Premiership medals with #20.

A good point Lioness, but I think I could handle the strain. :p

Nobody has to take the #1 jumper, it might go to a new guy at the club next year. :o

cheers ... Kaz :)

But why would anyone want to get rid of the #43 jumper? This is the best number in the business!
