Who gets dropped?

Morrell's a rookie and can't play seniors. Bit rough dropping Clayton after one bad game given his first 2 were quite good and is it really his fault that he makes position by himself but is ignored by team mates who prefer to kick to a contest or to opposition players? If Grant had followed team rules and hand balled to Clayton ,who would have been running straight into an open goal,in the last quarter instead of wheeling around and trying a snap which missed, we would have hit the lead and probably won the game.

Colbert will stay in. Pagan said in his press conference last night that Colbert was given just 50 minutes last night....next week, it'll be raised to about 80, and then he'll get a full game and hopefully, get full match fitness.

Agree with Groucho.....Clayton deserves his spot in the team after his first two rounds.

If Blakey goes out (and again, from last night, Pagan seems to think that he'll be back next week  ), then bring in Harris depending on how his form was today with the MKs.

True, there was another two occassions where Clayton had run his arse off to make free position on the wing but was ignored, the ball was kicked over his head to a contest, turned over and straight back into the cats forward line.

Clayton is (don't laugh) playing more physical this year and is at least putting himself into contests and is tackling a lot more as well.

I agree with those changes.. Colbert should go play in hte Mk's, he wasnt match fit last night I know, but he didnt even look close.. he needs to go through the Mk's.. Blakey had to after his knee..

Morrel is on the rookie list and cant play snrs..
you said Harris/Hale.. I say bring both of them in.. because we cant bring Morrel in..

And theres our 3 changes..

Can someone explain this Rookie stuff???

Morell played last year didn't he?? Did we drop him back to the Rookie list?

Who came off the Rookies for Carey??

And what about Martyn, I don't know if he holds his spot.

Colbert won't go and Clayton obviously can play worse then that and hold his spot, he did all last year.

I'd like to see Sinclair back, thought he was hard up and really looking forward to seeing Harro in.

Yes Morrel played last year, because there was someone with a long term injury, and that allowed us to elevate him, but then we dropped him back to the rookie list at the end of the year instead of keepin him on the snr list like we did with Teague.

We cant elevate a Rookie for Carey, as he hasnt got a long term injury.. which sucks, he may as well have.

Why would Martyn lose his spot?

Colbert should go, so should Clayton- and come to think of it so should Cochrane, who didnt do much last night, I saw him once I think..

First of all yes Morrell did play last year, he was elevated to the seniors (who did he replace by the way) and he was dropped back to the rookie list at the end of 2001. From memory, the only players i remember that were elevated last year and kept their spot in the seniors were Harding and Teague, with Baird being elevated in 2002 becuase of Abraham.

Nobody came off the rookie list for Carey because for a rookie listed player to be elevated to the seniors, the player he replaces has to have suffered a long term injury (eg Abraham). Carey wasn't injured, and i think we all know why he isn't playing for the Roos this year.

Martyn seems to be going alright this year so far, with the emphasis on 'so far'. He did suffer a hamstring injury of some sorts preseason and i thought oh no, here we go again, but i read somewhere that it wasn't related to his hammie problems of last year. And like i said in the last paragraph, Martyn has to be ruled out for the majority of the season for someone else to be elevated from the rookie list.

Colbert isn't match fit yet, so i shall reserve my judgement unitil he manages to string a few games together. While Carey was still here i would have had him on a hff like Hird, but i now feel he has to hold down chf. Clayton i feel is underatted. People keep on bagging him but he has been doing a lot better than thought. He is getting more and more involved in all aspects of the play, kinda like how Cochrane is improving.

I want to see Sinclair back too. He does have some speed so he woudl be good on the wing.

Now lets say that if someone does suffer a long term injury, i would like to see Morrell promoted. Reason is that Carey cannot play this year and Carey is a key forward, so therefore another key forward in Morrell should be elevated. He played at chf for his WAFL club West Perth too, and being a west aussie i got to see him play a fair bit as WAFL games are televised here.

Tashibatts, you say to bring Hale in, but i don't think he has enough meat on him to be able to play seniors for the Kangas. Being around 200cms Hale has the height, but he is only around 85kgs and that isn't enough for someone his height. I reckon he needs to gain another 10kgs to be able to have a go in the seniors. He will get hammered too much.

remeber barry hall next week

And what about Martyn, I don't know if he holds his spot.

i would have to agree why would mick have to be dropped he was run ragged by his opponent last nite and micks hammies held up well.

 his defensive attack is still the same, we had no crummers when he punched and werstled in the contests

barry hall next week mick will be looking forward to it:p

 im on the dump colbert train but it may not be a choice if blakey misses.

bring on some young guns

i don't think that clayton or cochrane had particularly poor games last night.
i cannot recall cochrane doing much wrong at all. didn't dominate but neither did his opponents.

claytons game was not bad. he was more value last night than shannon grant was. had riccardi kicked goals on the three opportunities that clayton gave him & had shagger kicked either of the two he could have snaffled in the last quarter, i may have changed my opinion.

I know he hasnt got enough meat.. the other option is Foott- who has more meat- and has apparently grown a couple of cm's... but the facts are we need another tall forward- even if they just provide a marking option..

Not a bad call... but I think Rawlings may be given a chance... from what I have heard he has been dominating with the MKs...

I had a good look at Foott yesterday and he needs to put on a few kgs before even considered for senior selection. A few cms is nothing.

I'm not sure that Rawlings will come up Rooboy, his game on Sunday was okay, not great though. He did pick up 30 possies the week before though - so he's still a chance.

I think Sinclair will come back up, once he got going on Sunday, he really looked a cut above everyone else (Except for Drew ;) )

Agree with myee8. Only minimal changes will occur this week with Blakey ,most likely, the only "out". Probably Sinclair will get the nod although I hear Dyl played well and may be considered.

Tashi, the great comedy duo of Hale and Foott are a looooong way from playing seniors. One or the other MAY play a game or 2 later on depending on how we're going but this is purely a developmental season for both of them.

Thanks True roo I missed the MK's as usual... the wife only lets me out one day a weekend... pity I like rawlings and think he could be up with the Robert Harveys of this world if given the opportunity and confidence...

Gees big call on Rawlings Rooboy96!! Not holding my breath on that one!!

I'm sick to death of talking about him, but i cant see how they could justify keeping Colbert in the seniors. He is obviously screaming for match fitness (not to mention new legs) and just doesnt seem up to it at senior level right now. Give 4 quaters on a half back flank or a wing in the MK's and let him build up like everyone else has to!

The thing everyone seems to be overlooking regarding Shane Clayton is that Denis is playing him as a tagger and he has been doing well in that role. Riccardi had little impact on Saturday night's game and Clayton ran with him the whole time, while alos making space for himself. Not his fault he wasnt used more by his team mates.

Blakey will miss, Colbert should (but being as though he is immune to the same treatement as every other player on our list, he wont).

Like to see Harris given a go as we seem to be lacking one hard and tough in and under type right now while Stevo is still getting it all back together. Watt should come come in for Colbert.

too true Colbert needs to see how the real footballers do it to make it they do it hard. and i can sometimes see why geelong people are laughing on the other side of thier face

bring on the young guns, Bourke maybe a tall for chf and keep mcartney at chb.

my apologies to pinky on that one:D
