I'd say the bombers.

With a new gameplan they won't be such a front running side that lets the opposition score freely whereas the eagles will still have bad skills and turn it over constantly.

In short. You can easily fix the bombers problems. Not so much the Eagles.

Our problems are largely turnovers too. Not a fantastically skilled side.
This. Too many guys in the midfield with average skills. Someone like a Hocking always give his best, but he's slow and skills are only average. As long as you've got guys like that in your best 22 you'll struggle. These next two drafts will make or break the club.

We've got a superior bunch of young KPPs and their young midfield is no better than Essendon's young midfielders, Masten, Shuey, Swift vs Zaharakis, Colyer, Melksham.
Well this post sums it up Essendon supporters havent been watching Eagles..

Wheres Scott Selwood? Koby Stevens? Kerr? Sheppard? LeCras?

Shuey is bound to be one of the best mids in the comp hes had 6 games in the past 2 years and hes already shown so much more than most young mids in the comp.

Ill make another comparision with bottom of the ladder and badskills.

20 Weeks ago who would be better in 5 years Richmond or Essendon? Richmond has no hope right?

What about now Richmond or Essendon?

Not sure why Richmond isn't included in this.

Sure they snagged a couple of extra wins - but there percentage is the worst in the comp. Which reflects week to week competitiveness.

The bottom 4 clubs this year IMO are WC, Richmond, Essendon and Port.

The reason I'm still somewhat bullish about our future is that we were competitive in a lot of matches, despite our senior players, rather than because of them. Our midfield are babies and just don't have the running power yet - it's one of the reason we keep getting run over.

However the team that I think will crash and burn is Brisbane. If Brown doesn't kick a bag - they don't win. And with the exodus of senior players coming like Rischi/Brennan/Drummond this year, added to Black/Power/Fev in the next couple of years. You just can't replace that overnight. They have some quality kids coming through like Redden, Rich and Rockliff - however kids they will remain - like the eagles youngsters - they aren't ready to carry the burden of the team yet.

We saw with Freo losing some senior players later in the year (not the hwaks match though) - the kids struggle to carry the team. They look great when supported by mature bodies, but struggle when they are the numero uno.

In an interview with Emma Quayle, Mitch Duncan said he thought AFL was easier than VFL because the Geelong stars made him look good. If he was playing for Richmond, West Coast or Port - he wouldn't look anywhere near as good when he got on the park.

Kerr is finished, Stevens and Selwood have shown less than Myers, Houli and Howlett. LeCras plays in the forward line and Sheppard plays in defense.

Just like Masten was supposed to be the next Judd?

Less than 1 week ago, Essendon's coach was sacked and Essendon finished ahead of Richmond and West Coast.

Myers and Howlett have shown more than Selwood? Be serious.

LeCras is moving more into the midfield in part too, he is dangerous in that part of the ground. Obviously he is still currently more valuable playing up forward.

Essendon quite clearly. So Richmond won a few games when their season was over, congrats. Dons were 5 and 5 before Hille/Monfries went down.

He hasn't played more than half a season since '07. The writing is well and truly on the wall.

Correct. Scott Selwood is even more vanilla than Troy and Adam, not crap, just vanilla. If his name wasn't Selwood he mightn't be getting a game.

The treatment of Myers and Howlett is half the reason Knights got the sack. Myers' stats mirror those of Selwood's having played off HBF and in the middle yet Myers was only given 8 games compared to Selwood's 20. Howlett's stats are better again and he has been a very solid foil for Jobe in the middle with his clearances and evasive skills and still only played 15 games.

LeCras is moving more into the midfield in part too, he is dangerous in that part of the ground. Obviously he is still currently more valuable playing up forward.
Turn it up, Worsfold wants him in the middle doesn't mean he's playing midfield. He's kicked 60 from the forward line, not from the midfield.

Essentially playing similar positions, defensive midfielder but not total lock-down tagger, in a similarly poxy midfield, Howlett averages more kicks, handballs, tackles, I50s, goals contributed than Selwood.

Yes he is 18 months older, but two less AFL pre-seasons balances that out.
Has absolutely exceeded expectations & done everything asked of him.
I would say he's shown every bit as much as Selwood.

Myers is a different case, only shown glimpses.
