Reef looks really good. Was pretty happy with the contribution of our young blokes. Was a very good standard today.
Was a great game between the two sides. High scoring. Very competitive. Lots of good signs.

I was highly impressed by Aiden Begg. Has some athletic ability in the ruck.

Not the best day for the Woods' your. Only Daicos in the top 7 possession winners for your young players.
Looks like Collingwoods youf is a bit of a one-man band!

What a strange way to determine the quality of youngsters. Purely on disposals in a game we were smashed in that area… particularly when you are throwing in a forward pocket and lockdown defender.

IMO Quaynor would walk into the starting line up of pretty much every team in the comp.

Henry had a nightmare in front of goals absolutely. He genuinely should have kicked 4+ goals and needs a goal kicking coach to sort out that routine. It’s shocking. But the rest of his talent is obvious and at least it’s giving him opportunity.

Henry had a mare but I liked how many times he got his hands on the ball. Would be a good learning experience for him going forward. Looks like he lacks a bit of belief in that final kick. Will come with age and experience.

Big fan of IQ. Daicos is a no-brainer 250 game player barring any serious injuries.

Think Collingwood is in the same position as the three sides discussed in this thread. Some bright talents but need to hit the drafts hard and pick the eyes out of them to take that next step.

What's Collingwood draft hand looking like in 2022?

On Hawthorn.

Think we've shown that we can match it with the more experienced sides for periods of the game. Unfortunately we just don't have the maturity and depth to sustain a four quarter performance.

Blown away against Sydney, Melbourne and Richmond in basically a quarter. Don't rate Essendon too highly but another quarter fade out there.

Bit of a learning experience going forward but that's to be expected of a team so early into a rebuild.

Serious question, have Hawthorn bottomed out?

Are they closer to a bottom or top 4 finish?

Pies hold a first rounder and 3rd round selections. 2023 will be another lean year.

I think we have. Our best performers minus Sicily have been the kids. Whether through form or deliberately via our structures we are less reliant on the works of Mitchell and JOM.

We look a better side now than we did last year. And playing a much younger team.

Closer to bottom 4…We are a lock for bottom 4 this year and will be bottom 5 next year but we are on the right path..we should have been where we are now 3 seasons ago..but like the majority of our supporters the great one in clarko overrated our list and gave Sam Mitchell a **** sandwich of a list.. he’s actually doing a great job and something clarko refused to do..play the kids and play a game style that once everything clicks and the younger players play 50 games good things will happen. We aren’t playing finals for another 3 seasons at least let alone finishing top 4.

Reckon we're tracking along quite well, but just don't have the depth to cover a couple of injuries right now in key spots(like the ruck and FF).

We're currently coming through the hardest part of our draw, with Swans, Cats, Dees, Tigers and Lions all within 6 weeks.

A simple look at the VFL will show you the quality of the kids that are still to come through.
What happened with Box Hill????
BTW Macrae was a sub.

Tbh Vinnie i put out the bat signal and you answered the call 😜
That’s mean.

But in all honesty, the kids need to get to 25-30 games of footy. I think that’s something the Hawks have managed to do well and for whatever reason it seems the Pies are balancing the numbers of kids in the seniors more.

There is no way guys like Callum Brown should be persisted with and getting games ahead of someone like Macrae.

WHE should make way for McInnes.

Sidebottom may be another who really isn’t adding anything and could be replaced by Murley or Harrison who are all class in the VFL.

End of year I suspect there will be a few more contracts not renewed.

I still think we are going to finish 12th to 14th.

Every side has injuries but we are playing a 3rd string ruckman with 8 games and a full forward non ruckman in ruck contests against teams with their 1st rucks.

Of course we are going to get smashed in clearances. But once the ball is moving we absolutely dominated.

With Reeves back and Lynch getting some fantastic experience we will see a big turnaround.

Why do you all say Lynch is a 3rd string ruckman? He is on par if not more effective at least around the ground than Reeves. They have probably played a similar amount of games, and both 24 this season. I think Mitchell said pre-season that they will battle it out for 1st ruck.

We have been playing a 19 yr old 197cm in the ruck past few weeks who made his debut and really is a key position prospect.
