Why do you all say Lynch is a 3rd string ruckman? He is on par if not more effective at least around the ground than Reeves. They have probably played a similar amount of games, and both 24 this season. I think Mitchell said pre-season that they will battle it out for 1st ruck.

We have been playing a 19 yr old 197cm in the ruck past few weeks who made his debut and really is a key position prospect.

Because he is a 3rd string ruckman behind Reeves and Big Boy.

Not according to Mitchell start of the season. Reeves is just a big lug of a guy using his height to get tap outs.
Lynch has performed better on most metrics. There is very little between them despite what you think. So not sure you are losing much, if anything, with Reeves being out at all.

Max struggles more against the better ruckmen in the comp where a Reeves can hold his own. Max is doing a great job, but id take reeves there any day at this stage. Max as a 2nd ruckman would be good though.

Of course the coach is going to tell the players that they will be picked based on ability and performance. But if all 3 were fit then Lynch would be at Box Hill.

Pretty similar stories as the season goes by. Think hopes were stoked early but probably settling back more towards what was expected in 2022. Both teams likely to finish in or near bottom 4 but getting some good development into young players. Both lists, in their young half, are less stacked than most of the competition with Hawks just shading Pies. Both will need to do well in upcoming drafts to make rebuilds a success. Hawks have probably bottomed out and will want to slowly rise from here. Pies probably drop for a season or 2 more as the older talent slips off the list and the hole in the middle of our list becomes more of an issue

Yeah we need a couple more drafts to bring in some top talent.

We look much better with Reeves compared to Lynch. Also has much higher upside.

I like Lynch's forward craft. Think if we keep developing that he could be a handy ruck/forward to go along with Reeves. Could play that David Hale role which we've missed for a long time.

Great games by daicos and Henry. That should put daicos slightly ahead of newk for the RS but it's neck and neck!

Loving what Mitchell lewis is bringing to the table. Just looking dominant.

Norf. Not much too add atm

Both boys you'd think will feature in the Brownlow votes for this one.

Daicos had 36 (25 uncont, 8 cont) and a lot of metres gained, but had more turns. Daicos also gets bonus points I feel for already being a leader in the Wobbles' defense.
Duke had 24 (11 uncont, 13 cont) but had half the metres gained. Duke had 12 tackles and 35 pressure acts. Duke's bonus points come from him flying a lone flag in our midfield and fighting through tags.

How do you figure? Newk was one of the main reasons the hawks came back. Was super impactful. Daicos also was super impactful but i wouldnt say one was clearly better than the other tonight as the both had very different roles. Also notice newk was tagged and broke free and daicos wasnt?

They won. He was their best player. We lost and newk was our 2nd best.

We don't have a tagger and I don't think we have tagged anyone for some time. Out of interest, who do you think tagged Newcombe?
It seems all Hawk fans think Newcombe gets tagged most weeks. Fact is there aren't many clubs who actually have specialist taggers. Maybe a midfielder plays a little more accountable footy perhaps?

But no. No tagger.

Don't think there was any genuine hard tag (unlike Rowell the week before) but I'd say Adams is generally your most accountable midfielder and saw them going head to head for most of the first three quarters. Saw Newk line up with Pendlebury a few times in the last.

That's not a tag. They line up in the centre square and around the stoppages.
If Adams was tagging him in the 1st Qtr, how do you explain Adams having 8 disposals?
He finished with 28 and 7 clearances.
As I said, no tag regardless of what Hawk fans want to tell eachother.

Guess you missed last week when even the commentators were talking about Rowell tagging Newcombe all game but yeah I’ll listen to this random guy from big footy, he must know more than professionals.

what about today and every other week?
So he was loosely tagged last week and struggled?

You can't even tell me the players that have tagged him each week other than Rowell last week because the commentator said so. The one game he was probably tagged and was quiet.

Why are you so upset? Just asking the question. I can tell you he wasn't tagged today.

We haven't had a player resembling a proper tagger since Levi Greenwood's last game in April 2021.

Not that I have any argument against Newcombe being a gun. He is and I love watching him.

But the word tag just doesn't fit what we do right now under Fly.
