Not sure it's as clear cut GC as people are making out. Losing Lynch would probably make me lean that way yes, but until such time, I think we're fighting it out.
I think Gold Coast are building a much better mid 20s group to lead their current crop - Lynch, May, Thompson, Swallow, Witts, Lyons, Day, Young, Hall are all in that 25-27 range. They just need the likes of Ainsworth, Bowes, Weller, Martin, Sexton, Miller, Ah Chee, Leslie, Wright, Joyce and Ballard to get good quickly. Losing Lynch would set it back though - one less bloke from that initial list of 9 (and reasonable question marks over the last 3 - so it's down to only 5 solid guys in that range).
We have getting games regularly in that range Kerridge, Mullett, O'Shea, Casboult in that range - we probably have better older players than GC (i.e. Simpson, E.Curnow, Murphy, Kreuzer, Thomas, Wright is better than the GC list of players born in the 80s) - but it means we have absolute shit so we are pinning all our hopes on Charlie Curnow, Cripps, Docherty, McKay, Fisher, SPS, Dow, Marchbank, Weitering and O'Brien to breakthrough and lead the team. We don't have the mid 20s blokes who are entering their prime like GC are.
If our elder statesman can hang around then it probably swings it our way but if the end comes faster than expected for our 80s born players GC will be streets ahead. They have a solid unit of mid 20s players who should enter their prime and really take the pressure off the kids and guys past their prime. We are still relying on both the latter 2 categories - hence 1-8 with 63%.
