i umpired a school footy game to get out of class and paid 1 free kick the whole game as i always say that if u dont notice who is umpiring the game they must be doing a good job as i deff feel nobody knew i was even out there that day
For those that are wondering, I umpired Under 13's for the last 2 Saturday's which meant a 6:45 AM wake up for an 8:45 AM bounce. Squeezing into a medium GREEN umpires shirt though is tough.
I also think that you do have some understanding of what an umpire goes through by doing it yourself. But then again, we all think we can do a better job.
seniors
u18's
juniors
old blokes in the super rules
rep games
the best blokes to umpire are the older senior blokes or the super rules games, as they have the best understanding...not surprisingly u16 and u18 would be the worst, as the kids think they know everything and can be little ****s
although i will admit i never actually did a regular season AFL game, got injured at the wrong time then could never quite get over them until i took a year off. Now i umpire cricket for a living
I umpired U/10 and 12's a few years ago. Kids were OK, parents were absolute shockers no kidding.
I was playing senior footy on the peninsula at the time and couldn't believe what they were yelling out to the opposition and even me who unknown to them was encouraging all the kids and giving a few cheap kicks to kids who couldn't get near it.
started goal umpiring in the old Southern Mallee league under13, under 16.s then reserves for a few seasons, as a club goal , then now independent goal umpire 4th season
done a game every week. , Finals double ups with short of goal umpires. Coud do back to back game "eg reserves then Seniors or under 17's then Seniors ".
