Man, I love this bunch of Irish homewreckers;

My three favourite Pogues songs of all time are;

1: Ballad of New York.
2: Dirty Old Town
3: The Irish Rover (with the Dubliners).

anybody else like 'em?

Bands like the Pogues remind me of just how bad pop music really got in the 80's ...

no wonder I gave up and started listening to Classical ...

The Irish Rover
That Anzac song (I forget its name).

I haven't listened to them in ages. I kind of went off the whole irish thing when they converted half the WA pubs into faux irish pubs, complete with Pogues cover bands, nothing but irish beer and all that eye diddly eye crap.

Comparing them with Dexy's is a bit harsh though BSA. Pogues have a lot more credibilty. They were even prepared to do a gig in Fremantle. Unfortunately Shane McGowan was so drunk the gig was a bit of a flop . This does prove your drunken tag though

I am pretty sure they have done a cover of "And the band played Waltzing Maltilda " by Eric Bogle which is outstanding stuff.

BSA, I feel I can trust that you are a man of fine taste. Although I share your views , in a general sense,of 80's pop music, I implore that you listen to The Pogues versions of "Dirty Old Town" and "The Band Played Waltzing Matilda" and if you can tell me they aren't damn fine renditions then ...well... that's your opinion I guess!
