Wouldn't read too much into Bont's performance.

Nash owns Bont and has owned him for about 3 years. Just the perfect match up for him.

Same as how Finn Maginess owns Nick.

Probably shouldn't need to spell it out, but that was more of a comment on the dartboard that is Player Ratings, than it was my assessment of his performance.
You said Player Ratings will give him a score of 25+.

Who were the best 10 players tonight? Let's see what the average score of those players is tomorrow. According to your theory, you will highly rate players that mostly receive low scores tomorrow.

Was preoccupied tonight, didn't see much of the game.

And that's not my theory at all.

Convenient.

You said you watch about half of the games with strong recollection, so there should be about 4 non Collingwood games this weekend you can complete this exercise for.

Fail to, and as usual, you were talking shite.

You're still obligated to name who you think the best 9 players were, as our agreement.

Champion Data's staff that record the information that goes into player ratings don't find themselves preoccupied on a saturday night.
I'm sure he'll still rack up a 25+ Player Rating.
11.2

Equal 11th/12th best

Bont 46% Disposal Efficiency
12 Effective Disposals
5 Clangers

The question mark grows in big games
He still had 723 metres gained - rank 1.
And 7 intercept possessions, obviously very good for someone that isn't a defender.

Clearly he didn't play well to his usual standards - in contrast averaging 19+ ratings points for the last 40-odd games he's played points), but he still offered us a bit when not many Dogs had a good game, and 723 metres gained, rank 1 on the night, is not a meaningless contribution.

Bailey, Neale, Draper, LDU, Trembath, Parker, Rayner, Andrews, Sheezel

Gawn, Duursma, Wright, Merrett, Kako, Sharp, Parish, Langford, Pickett

Heeney, Papley, Rosas, McCartin, Rowell, McInerney, Long, Mills, Uwland

There's some more top 9s. How many howlers vs good calls out of those 27 in terms of highlighting strong performances?

Bont scored around 11 and Heeney around 30. Lucky guesses!

He went missing again in a big game when it was on the line, and the Dogs lost badly... what's the excuse this time? Backline still rubbish?

That it's unreasonable to expect the best player in the game or any player to never have an off game, that wasn't even terrible in the grand scheme of things? (rank 1 metres gained)?

Why do you love the "go missing" statement. Bont had 17 kicks. He used it poorly, but that isn't the same thing as "going missing" lol

Nice stats but all I saw was Hawthorn dominating when a big game was up for grabs and the Dogs and Bont not doing much, been a common theme since the 2021 GF

Let's see how he goes at Geelong and then against James Jordan (lol)

Hawthorn always seem to be his kryptonite.

I hope it carries into next week, but o doubt it.
Yeah never really dominated against us apart from the 2016 final. Hasn't got Brownlow votes against Hawthorn in a proper length game.

I'm not 'obligated' to do anything. I haven't had the opportunity to watch as much footy as I'd planned this weekend.

Let's see how much better my ratings are than Player Ratings, for the Pies v. Freo game.

So you've cherry picked two stats in an attempt to tell us all 'he was actually still quite good'...

Bulldogs vs Hawthorn top 10 rated players:

Newcombe (easily 1st)
Lewis
Meek
Sanders
Ginnivan
Watson
Hardwick
Richards
McDonald
Moore

Yeah, they did a "terrible" job at finding strong performers yet again.

Yeah, it took 5 people capturing every stat possible and run it through a mathematical algorithm to determine Heeney had the best game this round, and possibly this season, and Bont had an average game...
You claimed Player Ratings would probably have him at 25. Instead it was easily his worst rated game of the season, after Heeney scored 30+ earlier in the day.

Remember, they "rarely" get it right.

That's what you agreed to lol, do you want me to go back and check and quote the post where you agreed to this?

You claim that your eyes are better than ratings points to judging who the best players are, and then your eyes took Saturday night off.

Ratings points didn't take Saturday night off, that's literally the whole point.

So you've cherry picked two stats in an attempt to tell us all 'he was actually still quite good'...
No, I'm saying why his 11 point generation - a well below typical game for Bont - is still of okay value, because he still managed to get into the spots to find 17 kicks (despite using them badly), which few other players in the match had 17 kicks. He played well below his usual standard, nowhere near hia coaches vote rating game. But he also wasn't woeful and of minimum value

Ball winning - he had more of the ball, where he won the ball off the opposition and from contests a lot more than just a simple handball receive or uncontested mark.

Ball use - his turnovers were bad, but if you're going to turn it over, it's less bad to turn it over 60m up the ground than it is to turn it over closer to your own goal.

But they do it all the same. That's the whole point. You took Saturday night off in order to judge the best player, they didn't.

Fadge for every game this round, I'll give you nine attempts to predict who the coaches think is the BOG for every game. You are not allowed to look at any statistics before doing so (I don't know how I'll enforce this, but anyway...)

Lets see if you get at least 8 correct out of the 9 matches.

If you do not manage, I would also suggest you don't know a lot about the game.

Offer accepted. I'll also give the order of likelihood for all 9 players.

"for every game this round"
"offer accepted"
"sorry, I was preoccupied on Sat Night and didn't watch the game, but I'm not obligated to follow through with what I agreed to".

Fadge given that you didn't watch the game and you feel that you can predict who won the coaches award better than what you claim is a dartboard, if you don't nominate 9 players for every game that might be BOG, I'll pick 9 players from the game at random.

You accepted the offer for all 9 games this round.

Yep, things change and I haven't been able to watch as much footy as I expected this weekend.

Quote my posts all you like, you'll have to find a way to cope.

But let's see how my Pies v. Freo assessment stands up when the coaches votes are released.

And my quote was 'those who understand footy can do a better job based on simply watching the game'. Get it right.
