Daicos had yet another net negative impact game where he turned it over constantly, picked and choosed when to commit to the contest, applied zero defensive effort and seagulled handball receives in shit spots, which was obvious to anyone watching, so the Pie nufflords will spend the week talking about anything other than the actual footy.
Of course, they will assume his game was as good as Bont's Round 0 0 coaches votes game (3 goals, 90% efficiency) because CoAcHeZ VoTeZ 0 VoTe Games are TeH SaMe

'Yet another negative impact game'?

What is a 'negative impact game', how is this measured, and which other games this year have been 'negative impact'?

I'm intrigued.

Careful, I got ridiculed 6 weeks ago for suggesting that Nick Daicos was a league average player in disposing the football.

I for one don't.

But Daicos last night was better than Bont was a few weeks ago against the same opposition and same direct opponent.

Apples with apples, and all that...

First player I would pick in a team would be Luke Jackson

The only thing that intrigues you is following him around with a jar to try and catch one of his farts.

It’s my own very advanced metric called ‘VotePig’ where I watch the game and monitor players that regularly call for seagull possessions in shit spots, have a lot of low impact didposals, regularly turn it over or burn I50s and not even pretend to give an effort defensively.

VotePig has him as the highest rated Magpie in every game this year, with the three highest rated games of any player this season.

So just some throw away, unsubstantiated criticism of him?

Just as I thought.

Who's leading VotePig ... Naicos or Archie Roberts?

Do you need me to link you to a replay of the game? All the VotePig factors are on display.

Maybe you can call your own metric ‘Disposal Average Is Currently the Only Stat (for me)’. DAICOS4ME for short.

Not a stat we have access to but I think two stats that would be amazing to have for midfielders is

- Metres gained from effective disposals

- Assisted metres gained from effective disposals (so, how far did the ball go based on who you passed the ball to, ie, did you make the right decision in who to pass the ball to)

If we had both, I feel like we would know so much more about the effectiveness of midfielders.

There's been lots of great player performances this round. Let's not obsess over the negatives. Nick has had some truly great games this season, some overrated ones and then some lower impact ones.

He'll always be a vote magnet but the quality of ball use and impact do vary. Turnover vs score involvement ratio is still quite poor. Goal and goal assist numbers okay due to volume of possessions, but far from outstanding given he has the footy 35 odd times per game. He's ultra high volume, low efficiency and offers nothing defensively.
Yet when he plays well we have a much higher win percentage. His ball use is poor because of opposition tactics and he needs to do that better, but I think you will find most tagged players have poor ball use.

SuperCoach and Player Ratings from Champion Data are built for different purposes.

SuperCoach is fundamentally a fantasy game scoring system. It is designed to turn statistical events into points in a way that is engaging, balanced, and rewards statistical accumulation. It uses Champion Data inputs, but its purpose is not to measure true on-field impact.

Player Ratings are attempting something different entirely. They are an impact model. They weight all recorded actions in context, including pressure, possession value, chain involvement, territory impact, and outcomes, to estimate a player’s overall contribution to the game.

A player can rack up fantasy points through volume and accumulation, while another player can rate more highly in impact because their actions were more damaging, influential, or game-shaping within the flow of play.

That doesn’t mean one system is “wrong.” It means they are answering different questions.

If your goal by asking "which system is correct", is to measure impact, I would lean towards the model that is attempting to quantify that into a single stat.
Both are massively flawed.

Nicky is just an insanely lightweight running machine and can go all day with handball receives and dinky kicks back and forth to rack up an easy 35.

He avoids contact and skirts the packs..therefore we can’t seriously consider him being even in the top 10 players of the current league.

Bont and Trac take multiple heavy hits every game and wear them without complaint.

Usually it’s them inflicting pain on the poor soul who dared to charge them..hence their sheer size and willingness to win the pill
Oh your back after weeks of not being here when daicos was killing it. Welcome back. I am sure you will be posting some totally unbiased posts. Looking forward to them

Daicos f**cked by Mullin, what a suprise.

He has been very average last 3 weeks, terrible kicking this whole season.

Need to watch Roberts game and calculate…
I'm not even certain Roberts is that much worse of a footballer other than playing a kick-in role

5.3 post-clearance contested possessions to 3.9, and a clanger only 10.1 touches, compared to 6.5. Roberts doesn't really do pressure or tackles either, but has only lost one of seven defensive one-on-ones this year. Roberts has also kicked accurately at his one shot for goal, unlike Daicos who has been inaccurate.
