Weekend Wrap and "Liked, Learned, Hated" right here -- How did tipping go?
Not across the entirety of the home and away season, they didn't.Other players had bigger impact on games in 18 than Mitchell did
Haven’t analysed it closely, but he pisses me off because imo he is one of the most influential and irrepressible talents in the league.Where do you have Cameron ranked on output for players 2022-2026?
They can disagree, but watching Collingwood and the rest of the sides i am comfortable in this statement. Pendles was the best but he is not close. This is where most people disagree. Daicos calls for the ball a lot, but often it is in disadvantageous or unthreatening positions (bad decision) or he miscalculates the best option to kick to (bad decision) or he makes the right calculation but has askill error (good decision, still a turnover). The other 3 players I listed have been making better decisions this season and executing their skills better.
Mitchell’s 2017 and 18 are completely different. Very good in 17 but not the best, but became the best in the league at the time or atleast best performed in 2018. Then broken leg.So essentially worthless.
but he wasn't nearly as good as his disposal numbers indicated, and if you only looked at his disposal numbers you would get a false impression.

He was better than both in 2018.Do you think he was better than Martin or dangerfield in 2018?? I doubt many coaches would have taken him over either of those two if picking from a lineup.
He was elite don’t get me wrong. I just don’t think he was best in the game
What about Rowell, Cripps and Neale?Bont
Heeney
Trac
Butters
Daicos
Jackson
Pickett
You forgot Nas.What about Rowell, Cripps and Neale?
Oh i forgot about the bloke who has played 2 games this year, also the guy who is very washed. What about Rowell, Cripps and Neale?
DaicosBont
Heeney

Daicos
Jackson

Neale is a brilliant playerOh i forgot about the bloke who has played 2 games this year, also the guy who is very washed.
Neale been good but not in my top 7 though
BontDaicos
Butters
Heeney
Holmes
Serong
Because he plays in the back pocket. Roberts also doesn't get centre clearances too mate. Now do score assists, have you actually watched a bombers game this year?
Bont lacks the explosive traits of some of the others to be no1. Would take butters or daicos over BontBont
Smith
Heeney
Holmes
Butters
Jezza
If Daicos is the better player, why doesn't he win more general play contested balls, and why does he have more clangers per touch than Roberts? And there we have it, folks.
If there was any doubt at all prior to this post, there should be zero doubt now...
If a ruckman took the ball out of a centre bounce and kicked a goal with zero involvement from any teammates they too would get 6 ratings points for 1 disposal.OK, there hasn't been much talk about the player who has recently elevated his game to best player in the competition discussions today, which is surprising given the attention Nick Daicos' sub par 29 possession game against Geelong last night has received.
But Kosi Pickett put forward a 14 disposal, 1 goal (uncostested mark in middle of the ground followed by a 50 metre penalty) game against the powerhouse West Coast Eagles today, and it would be remiss of us not to highlight his scintillating final quarter in which he earnt 6.0 ratings points.
So this last quarter that earnt him 6.0 ratings points....
3 disposals
2 kicks
1 handball
1 mark
But all (3) possessions were contested, and 2 were intercept possessions, and he had 100% disposal efficiency.
That's how you smash the CD Algorithm!
What a quarter from the emerging #1 player in the competition!
Such an effort really needs to be celebrated more. The pro- Kosi folk really do need to lift - why do I need to do your work for you?
Would they?If a ruckman took the ball out of a centre bounce and kicked a goal with zero involvement from any teammates they too would get 6 ratings points for 1 disposal.
How exactly is being impactful with your disposals bad?
You're really asking those two questions? If Daicos is the better player, why doesn't he win more general play contested balls, and why does he have more clangers per touch than Roberts?
Hawks fans were telling us this about Cyril Rioli more than 10 years agoI am actually enjoying the statistics conversation, and what statistics actually tell you about a player.
I genuinely think the disposals model we have been using for a century is very outdated and does not tell you how good a player is, and I really don't like compound statistics, how a midfielder can win a clearance, hoof the ball forward into the forward 50 and end up getting a score assist, so they end up with 3 or 4 stats based on one kick.
I love the effective metres gained and effective assisted metres gained stats as I feel like, at least for midfielders it tells you so much more about a player than the amount of disposals they have achieved. I also think it is a good metric for defenders too since part of defending is not only winning the ball but getting it out of your defensive 50, setting up attacking plays.
For forwards I think goals and goal assists needs to be valued a lot more than they currently are. It is amazing how little goals are rated, despite goals being the whole point of the game.
Would they?
6 player ratings points for that single action, when the best players each round receive circa 25 points for a full game?
And you worship this algorithm?
YepYou're really asking those two questions?
Really?
I hate that so much. I hate how much midfielders are favoured in all the awards and all the "best player" discussions.
Yes midfielders are important, but so are many other positions. Hard to win a flag if you have a shit house defence or forward line.
As far as I am concerned the fact that guys like Buddy, Scarlett, Rance, Gawn etc did not get anywhere near as much discussion about "best player in the competition" in their careers shows how biased those discussions are towards midfielders.
CareyBont is the 4th best footballer I've seen. All opinion based![]()
Perhaps because it’s not all about you Fadge. There have been over 100 posts between this thread and the Daicos thread critiquing his 29 possession game against Geelong whilst receiving the Mullin tag.
There has been one single post (mine) about Kosi's 14 possession game against West Coast, whilst receiving minimal opposition attention.
