Anyone here going tonight to line the route to see the coffin go past towards Centennial Park ? Also, anyone going to the memorial on March 25 at Adelaide Oval ? A great South Aussie and Aussie legend RIP

I won't be Adelaide for tonight but I'm going to try and get down there for the memorial. I can imagine the Adelaide Oval being absolutely packed out and rightly so.

jub jub, yeah it is. At least I respect one of the greatest Aussies ever ! idiot, be more respectful. I will be at the memorial at the oval too

Why do you call anyone who doesn't share your opinion an "idiot"?

I agree with him/her. Going to the memorial is one thing - but watching the coffin go past - that's sad.

I would, but I'd say they'd probably have left by now...

Easty ur an idiot!

Bradman wasnt South Aussie as u said he was ****in twit.

Born 27 August 1908, Cootamundra, New South Wales

Doesnt say SA on there does it easty u ****ing idiot!

I know u will say this so ill say it for u: South Australia Career Span: 1935-36 to 1948-49 he played for Sa but that doesnt make him SA his A New South Walshman!

Mags

Mags are you for real?. How pathetic are you?.He hasn't lived in NSW since the 30's. The fact that Bradman lived in SA makes him a Sth Australian. The fact he lived here for 66 years bought up his family and had a business here says he must of regarded himself as a SA.

So piss off you Collingwood fool, your'e just trying to cause trouble again.

I agree ! You idiot mags ! Even a guy on here, Carey is King, lived in SA until 10 or so years ago and he told me he considered himself a victorian now, so a man who moved here 70 years ago ! , had a family etc is obviously a south aussie ! Shane Crawford was born in the same hospital as me and he isnt known as a south aussie is he ? Its not hard to tell you are a collingwood fan !

Hey JUBJUB, get it right he hasn't played test cricket in over 50 years. How do you know if he hasn't had the odd game of back yard cricket since then. :D :D :D

I can't believe anyone would turn this kind of topic into a confrontational state rivalry debate.

For what it's worth, if I was in Adelaide, I would have certainly went and paid my last respects. One moment I'll never forget was seeing masses of people, kids and adults alike, unashamedly crying, lining up the streets of Footscray just to be in the presence of EJ for one last time. As opposed to you 'Go South'- We didn't consider it as 'sad'.

From what I saw in the press from Adelaide, it was a fitting farewell for Sir Don, showing how deeply saddened everyone was. A nation is mourning one of its true legends.

Sir Don- RIP

I agree. I would have gone too. And you're right too, about EJ Whitten, it's a similar thing......2 great men who not only gave their very best in their chosen sport, but they touched countless other Australians in different ways. I would be proud to have the opportunity to pay my last respects in such a way. Perhaps some of those people who lined the streets to see the coffin pass, perhaps that was their only opportunity to be so close to such a sporting hero, what's wrong with that?? There is nothing 'sad' (meaning pathetic, as other posters have used it) about it.

You really are a dickhead that doesnt know anything do u easty?

Shane Crawford was born in the same hospital as me and he isnt known as a south aussie is he?

Crawford wasnt born in Sa idiot he was born in NSW so who exactly can he be SA when his born in Nsw!

Crawford has never played footy for a SA team and coz he isnt Vic either he plays State of Orign for Allies not Sa!

Where did u get a stuipd that Crawford was Sa?

Oh And Carb since when have i gived a **** what u say. Im not a Collingwood fool and trying to cause trouble again, just say the real facts.

Mags

mags you idiot ! He lived in the adelaide hills where I am up until he was 5 and he moved to country NSW, I think it was called Finley. It is known that he was born here, I remember after he won the brownlow , KG and Cornesy were interviewing him on radio and he said that he was born in the hills. The local paper here has a column each week in the footy season on how the former locals are going in the AFL and SANFL. So get your facts right, I know he is a New South Welshman , thats the reason I mentioned it ! To prove that if crawford is a nswman then Bradman is a south Aussie !

Jub Jub - I cant believe you could say those things about the great man, just because he is a south Aussie and we had a chance to line the streets and also go to his memorial on March 25 unlike you, I reckon thats why you are saying that crap, if he was from your state it would be a different story I bet ! idiot

The fact you replied clown, must mean you give a ****.

Also Crawford was born in Mt. Barker which last time I checked was in the Adelaide hills which is in SA. Thankyou and goodbye fool.

Bradman was a great cricketer, that much is true, but his feats on the cricket field pale in comparison with the efforts and lives of three other great Australians.
Howard Florey, Mark Oliphant & Fred Hollows.
These guys made a difference to the whole world and made it a better place. Sure Bradman was good, but he's just a cricketer.
I'm sick of hearing about it already.

Congratulations to the few who managed to sidetrack this thread,... NOT.

In the whole of human history very few people have had the ability to widely inspire masses of people through their deeds. To quibble about trite nonsense while others are endeavouring to show their respect to someone who has somehow moved them is a total disgrace.
