Who is our hardest at the ball player ?

Is it :

Solomon ?
Hardwick ?
Mark Johnson ?
Jason Johnson ?
Wallis ?
Moorcroft ?

I know this is going to sound boring, but I honestly think, our "hardest at the ball" player is James Hird.

I know I could have chosen a lesser light, but the way James throws himself into contests and wins the hard-ball is second to none in the entire AFL, IMHO.

Alessio led the hard-ball gets in 1999 and has been the traditional leader in that category (believe it or not), but in 2000, the leaders in hard-ball-gets were :

(not including the Grand Final)

Misiti 90 (24 games)
J Johnson 76 (24 games)
Hardwick 66 (23 games)
Hird 64(18 games)
Caracella 51 (23 games)
M Johnson 51 (23 games)

If Hird had played 24 games Like Misiti, he'd be right up near the top.

I think Damien Hardwick or Jason Johnson, or Mark Johnson....and James Hird. I think Jimmy has the most courage, but not necessarily the toughest.

After the Sheedy invented 'marshmellow' jibe a few years back Essendon have done well in recruiting and developing a lot of hard at the ball players.

Nonetheless, your hardest ball player is still Hardwick. There is a thread on the main board which deals with this topic and I hive listed there who I believe are the hardest players in the comp. Hardwick is one I have listed, namely because I have seen him frequently do the toughest thing in football which is back into a pack not knowing what is coming.

Dan, I know you rate Hird as the best player going aroung and I do not question his courage but he is not in the same league of 'hardness' as Hardwick et al.
