We know Gary is going to step aside soon so who is our next captain? I personally think it's going to be Tom Lynch.

What do you want in a captain?

-Back the coach's message?
-Talk on-field?
-Handle media?
-Connect with fans?
-Lead off-field by example?
-Build relationships with team mates?
-Footy smarts?
-Perform inspirational feats?
-Show passion?
-Be consistent under pressure?

I think Gary is still captain for a while because our future captains tick around half of these boxes. If it is five years away, Jaeger. If it is two years, take your pick. I pick Harbrow.

I would argue Tom Lynch very nearly ticks all those boxes and is not far off ticking all of them.

It is generally a key forward or a key on ball player who get the captaincy.

There are a number of quality candidates who could fill the role.

My money would be on Tom Lynch who I reckon is an absolute jet of a player.

Get the CHF position right and the chances of success are all the more likely.
