No re-drafting then. Barrett, McInerney, Hinge & Eagles survive on the Rookie list unless there are further changes coming.

We may pick one or two back up.......but it certainly sends a message to the 2018 delist list. Can't wait to free some of those spots up.
Normally clubs announce intention to re-draft as soon as the delisting is made public. Article pretty explicit about not offering them 2018 contracts.

You can't re-rookie them before the rookie draft. But I suppose we haven't publicly committed to re-rookieing any of them.
The article actually said that the players had been informed that they would not be offered contracts for 2018.

That could be pretty vague. I still wouldn't rule it out. Especially given we're keen to keep Hanley.
Anything is possible. I would certainly consider 1 of the big boys. William is a bit blah, for me and Claye has probably had enough of the grind. Cian is a possible

Don't mean to sound heartless, but personally, I see these delistings as a breath of fresh air through the place.

Finally a year where we can prune some dead wood off the tree.
Next year will be the same I think.

why would we re-rookie any of these guys. The reality is we have been the worst performed team over the last 3 years and these guys are at the end of that list. It sucks but to put it bluntly/simplistically they are the worst of the worst.

Move them on, sign a delisted free agent like Hartung (or Clarke from Freo or upgrade Barrett who played 17 senior games for us last year) and take 6 picks inside 52 to the draft.

Yeah I'm stoked.

Some unlucky players but these sorts of calls need to be made. Apart from Close, I don't think any of these blokes have much of a chance of being a regular player.

Because 2 of them are developing key forwards and 2 are very raw rookies. I understand Claye being at his peak but the other 4 could have improvement left in them.

I agree with this sentiment. It's a tough industry and some players just don't make it.

The one exception for me would be Hanley if he can be relisted as a rookie. One more season to see if he is going to make it given he came out from Ireland and has suffered injuries while he's been here.

Tall from Tassie. Played for the Allies at the national champs. Wins aerial contests by either marking or bringing the ball to ground for his smalls, and had really good follow up efforts to win the ball/make a tackle after a contest. Would only need a late draft pick, but another tall that I think is worth keeping an eye on.

Hugh Dixon

Tassie boy.
Tall Fwd .....(3rd Tall most likely at AFL level).
There's something about this kid that caught my eye during the Champs.
Someone worth looking at with a late pick, especially if we pass on an early Ballenden nomination.
In my notes, I had him down as one who could become a defender (especially intercept type).

Too quick for these arthritic fingers JP.
