Games changed people.

One big man is all you need, a mobile forward line that's all about pressure.

Cameron, Christensen, Robbo, Zorko are all ferocious.

Faganism is in, get on board Choo Choo

Not sure about that. Look at how the Bulldogs have recruited since winning the premiership with a small forwardline.

If they ever play forward for majority of games in the seniors, then we are in serious trouble (Save for McStay, has potential but more a defender). Getting Ballenden just has to be a must now even if he is an early bid

Same goes if we lose our 2 best key backs or best inside mids.

Best to reserve judgement to after the drafts.

The game has changed a bit, but assuming Richmond is the new normal is crazy. They happened to stumble upon a winning formula largely because they didn't have many other options. There will always be more than one way to skin a cat, you don't win anything by just reacting to what other teams have done.

So that leaves us with 2 key forwards left on the list (Hipwood, Walker). Maybe 3 if you include Skinner, but he'll be a while away.

Slightly more key defenders, with Gardiner, McStay, Andrews, Frost and Eagles. But Gardiner is a third tall, Frost looks like depth only at present and Eagles is unknown.

Throw in the inevitable injury or two (which we didn't get last year somehow, Skinner aside :().

Suddenly we go from a very tall NEAFL team to a short one...

Be interesting to see how many talls we bring in through the draft. 2-3 I'm thinking...Ballenden, maybe Payne, and maybe someone else. Or we might go for more third tall/utility types.

I would have kept Close on the list just in case Walker or Hippy get injured. Good to have some insurance. Hammer and William were never going to make it just not good enough. Claye unfortunately was held back by injuries which slowed him down but he looked so promising before being struck down.

We are building a lot of options within our taller group.
We have Hipwood, Andrews, Mcstay, Walker and Skinner (when fit) who can all float forward and back within games, as required.
I think I remember reading an article that Harris Andrews in his underage year kicked something like 60 or 66 goals playing predominantly as a forward.

Fundamentally, I think it's just that Fagan & Noble have their own ideas about where they'd like to take the list. Last trade period they'd just come into the club and hadn't fully got across the list where it is. Now they've had a good look and are ready to start implementing their strategy. And that's where Noble talking about the Gabba playing fast comes in. That's where investing heavily in bringing Cameron comes in (or, for that matter, the persistent rumours about Hartung).

There'll be players who get an immunity idol for the other attributes they bring (e.g. Lester for his smarts, leadership & flexibility), but Fagan & Noble want a fast gameplan and a list who can execute it. This will heavily influence how we approach the draft.
