Im getting sick to death with all this crap. Im sick of seeing elliot on tv, im sick of hearing about legal battles and threats and AFL back door deals.
As far as Im concerned, things seemed to running ok until elliot created a problem.(i really dont care about the nuts and bolts of this anymore)
Now all we hear about is non-football related media propaganda, and eddie mcguire trying to be a bigger star than his players, with barbs at the AFL, and stupid comments.
CAN THEY JUST BLOODY DROP IT, AND GET ON WITH THE GAME ????? IM QUICKLY LOSING PATIENCE WITH AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL NOT BEING ABLE TO GET ITS F*CKING ACT TOGETHER- AND I BLAME EVRYONE FROM ELLIOT TO THE AFL TO MCGUIRE TO CHANNEL 7. I DONT CARE WHOSE AT FAULT HERE. JUST CONSIDER THE FANS THAT WANT YOU TO ALL PULL YOUR DAMN FINGERS OUT.
anyway- ive had my rant. do i speak for anyone else here ??????

Spot on Arch, while this may have a big impact on the way the competion is heading in all respects really it has already been taken away from us ( the real supporters).
Now they are just playing us again for their own ego's.
At least their seems to be some decent blokes running some of the other clubs who arent afraid to LAY THE SMACK DOWN on elliot.
Maybe the afl should approach Vinnie McMahon for Collins job. Now there is a man who gives the people what they want!

Hi Grendel.

It's surprising how many people that don't neccesarily agree with Elliot are enjoying seeing the AFL squirm. Clean the lot out and put someone with some integrity in, I say. I know who, but would we want to give our pres up ?

At the very least the Clubs should re-define the commissions terms of reference.

Anyway, what about the Hawkers ? Can Salmon and Thompson have made such a great recovery ? Not even a mention of O'farrel, Rode or Loats as emergencies ? I'm quite confused.

At least neither of us have Young (who had a good game last time)but I see they recalled moorcroft who did so much damage

I take heart in that towards the end of the Lions game we held things up in the middle if it wasn't going to go our way. Perhaps we can starve their forwards.

well i watched that brisbane game, and it was a bloody good one for them, more mentally than anything else.I think if the Hawkers can get on a roll, get some momentum against us, and have their crowd (who'll hopefully turn up this week- where were they against the Lions ????) really amped, they could give us a shake. People talk about bottling our forward line, but penetrating the "D" will also be tough. I noticed today that the Bombers have scored the most points in the AFL this year, and also given up the least. thats a pretty good stat i think. Dan24- u reading this ??????

I just took a look at the Hawthorn and Essendon sides for my tipping comp and was surprised about how good the Hawks side looked on paper. Some of the Hawk kids have been around for the past two or three years, so could this be the year that they blossom? I think someone posted somewhere else that they were worried that Essendon were due for a loss, and that this match could be the one, so if Hawthorn does win, it could get them on a roll.

But I took a look at the Essendon side and the forward line looks lethal.....I haven't seen anything that dangerous since the Geelong forward lines of the early 90s.

So, sorry pess, my I'm tipping the Bombers. But I hope it's a close game just like the ones in the mid-80s (non-Grand Finals though).

Watched 3 minutes of the footy show last night & saw McQuire, Elliot & Gutnick sitting there. McQuire then said that there were too many ego's involved in footy & that was causing the problems.

Considering they probably have the 3 biggest ego's in footy I just had to laugh.

I like Eddie. I'm also a Collingwood supporter so that pretty much makes me biased. However, he is a sensible bloke. You just have to look at how Collingwood is run now to realise that.

I reckon he's more informed and in touch with what's going on than some of the other presidents. I'm thinking all you lot see when you see Eddie is Collingwood.

Sure, he gets his head on television all the time, but that is what being the President of Collingwood is. The media come running to him. He could say anything and it would be in the paper the next day.

You can bag him all you like, sometimes it's justified, but I'd much rather have him as our president than some of these other clowns masquerading as presidents.

couldn't agree more. Interesting to see then Micky M said at the weekend it was good to get away from all the crap and play footy on Saturday (word to that effect anyway). The AFL are at serious risk of pissing the average fans off the way the NRL did. They don't seem to realise you can only take people for granted for so long before they all jack up and say "f*ck you!"

It was me who said the Dons are probably due for a loss - 8 on the trot is about as many as most sides win before they get a bit cocky.

That said, I would be surprised if Hawthorn have the man power to do it this week - they are very promising squad but for this week I can't see Salmon or Thompson being fit and if they play them unfit then forget it.

Also, I have to agree re: the Don forwardline - after injuries and other problems this is the first week I think we have EVER been able to field a fit Hird, Lloyd, Mercuri, Lucas, Alessio and Bewick at the same time - poor ol' Caracella and Riolli - pretty tough when you're that good and running around in the Magoos. Hence, if the Hawks don't cut the midfield supply then I can't see us kicking less than 20 goals.

Speaking of the early 90's Cat's forward line, good, is it not, to see Barry Stoneham fit and playing well at CHF? How unlucky was that bloke with the leg and sternum and God knows what else - all in his prime too. Footy is a tough game.

Well I have to admit that I aint to confident, more so if the big fella (Thompson) doesnt come up. Pess I tell you if you havent seen the Box Hill Hawks mcpahrlin, Whoooo. Team package. Dont be suprised if they spring him into the ones if thommo isnt right. Rode is suprising at the minute, playing pretty well. I still think O'Farrell needs some work as his fitness doesnt look to flash.
Yeah that bomber forward line looks awsome. Can understand bringing in Moorcroft after what he did to us last year but surely Carrecella is a better player. Wish that the Hawks had made him a better offer a couple of years back, he would be handy now lol.
Still stranger things have happened and suprisingly if I look anywhere I think (Hope more like) that if Crawford can dominate the midfield and Harford can go with him then we just might spring a shock, and with the butcher Vanders in the side we have a guy that can run hard and just as direct as johnson X2 (I mean you cant split them haha).
Who is going? I will be there hoping we get up if we do I will gladly meet any bomber fans in the pub near ricmond station after the game.

However If we get done i think I have to get home early to the missus hahaha

Eddie McGuire should not be included with theses guys, well actually he could in some respect but it is only because he wants for the good of the game. John Elliot is right in some respect also. Open your eyes Arch do you really think that this is happening fo no reason, it jsut won't go away! And by the way it isn't John Elliot nor the Carlton Football Club that is taking the AFL to court, it is the Carlton Social Club!!! I am a Collingwood supporter and there is no way in hell i would support anything to do with Carlton unless there was some merit to it. Face it the AFL is ****ing up some bad, they need to be transparent and stop making so many sneaky deals. Only then will fans trust the AFL!

joel, the point of my post was that I no longer give a stuff about why sh*t has hit the fan here . Im just sick and tired of it all detracting from football.My opinion is that John Elliot is a tool who talks about bringing people to the games, but who doesnt want to move a Carlton v Collingwood clash from Optus.hypocrite.

also off topic- it was also just dandy this morning to find that the Bombers wont be on TV and that if want to listen to the AFL net cast I'll have to pay for the f*cking "AFL premiers club". Bloodsuckers. If its not on the radio im gonna puke.

Not too sure if they're still doing it, but I remember last year (note, my memory is very dodgy on this), 3AW did some netcasts...so try them if you can't get the game on radio. Not too sure of the links though.
