Mitchell was a sniper & a fat little plodder. His game style was based around chip kicks and the quick one, two handball while being protected by a Hawthorn player.

Even Jeff Kennet stated he would probably not get a game at another club
What a load of ******* tripe.

It's not even a contest. Senior was/is miles ahead - some of the stuff he did was off the scale. Don't beat yourself up, just listen to those who saw senior - he was better.
Couldn't agree more. Ablett jnr wasn't even the best player at Geelong (Bartel had him covered easily and I'd pick Chapman ahead of him every day of the week) His old man, was someting else. Toug hard, fair, explosive, mercurial, brilliant. Could turn a game on its head in minutes with sheer bloody genius

TI & Leon Baker.

I'll throw Peter Ware up there.
Aaah, Leon Baker. Someone asked me once if I could be an AFL player for a day, who would it be? And I said Baker - what he did in that last quarter of the 84 GF is what a kid dreams about in the backyard. And I'm a Hawthorn fan.

Bang on. I'd have had Bartel and Chapman, as well as Enright ahead of him. Very overrated player GAJ.

Complete dog shit.
Nope. Not dog shit. Its one thing getting 50 possessions a game, when 15-20 are dinky handballs barely a metre in length. He's a great, no doubt, but not nearly as good as people say. On all measures of greatness, he doesn't stack up against many players - leadership = zero. Nor Smiths? Zero. Developing a culture that goes beyond himself? Zero. Doesn't get close to his Dad, and Bartel, Chapman, Enright, Scarlett, et al. were more influential in the massive finals/games Geelong played.

I'd have Judd at West Coast, Bartel, Goodes, Mitchell, Ricciuto, Hodge ahead of him for leadership, big game influence and all over impact. GAJ is a selfish little bastard, who did what was right for GAJ most of the time, not for the team.

He did!

Good player Pritchard.

Peter Riccardi too - Matera rated them his toughest opponents if I remember right.
Bang on. They were three top players. Matera was the stand out - his 92 GF and this long bomb goals were huge. Little Pritch was class, as was Riccardi. But Matera was brilliant. Loved him as a player. 91-94 WCE was a very underrated team - one of the greatest (and hardest) sides of all time, and if they were Vics, they'd be mentioned regularly in GOAT discussions.

Probably a bit harsh, but I get what you mean.
There's a classic piece of play in the 2010 prelim when he gets 4 posessions and travels backwards 50 metres when he finally turns and kicks the bloody thing he turns it over and Collingwood score . It's a piece of play that justs sticks in my mind and most mids do it. That's why stats are so overrated.

The very best hurt you. With GAJ its death by a thousand cuts and most of those cuts are superficial at best. Get him forward of the play and he's sublime, but he doesn't come to mind as standing up in big moments like Bartel did or Chapman or Stevie J or Judd at his best could do. Great players impose themselves on games GAJ doesn't do it so much.

His old man did. Repeatedly. So did L.Matthews.
