Seeing I think the best era of footy was late 80's to late 90's I'd go Ablett Snr.
Honourable mentions;
Greg Williams
Darren Jarman
Mark Ricciuto
Wayne Carey
Peter Matera
Craig Bradley
Tony Lockett
Andrew McLeod
So many more, I just loved footy back then.

+1 for Eagles Judd - that first half up against Brisbane when he kicked 4 would be hard to beat as the best half of football ever played by a midfielder.

Was he a similar player to Josh?...For me Gaz senior.Anyone remember his game against the Swans I think in 93.He had 5goals to quarter time.He was in such unbelievable form that people genuinely thought he could get the Goalkicking record that day.How times have changed
I remember Dunstall kicking 17.

My Dad remembers Hudson kicking 150 in a season.

Thing about GAS is, if you take away Richmond games he has average goal kicking numbers.

It's always hard to not pick a player from the club you support. But for me I can hand on heart say Lockett is the best player I have seen.

Watched fantastic footy flashbacks on Sunday, Saints vs Carlton 1989. Saints won by 2 points with a last minute goal - kicked by Plugger to make t 10.6 he kicked in a score of 13.12 on the fullback of the century. What was amazing was how the rest of the game was completely irrelevant. The only thing the crowd, the commentators the TV audience was watching was Lockett.

Best non - Saint I have seen - 4 absolute standouts for me were Peter Knights, Greg Williams, Leigh Matthews and Royce Hart. That is the best CHB ever, the best CHF ever, the best centreman ever and probably the second best player ever.

Peter Matera is my pick for the best I have seen.

Chris Judd - blasphemy on this wesbite I know. But seriously Juddy is so overrated. He is very good. But hardly as good as made out to be. As a West Coast supporter I watched him week in and week out. He did not drag us over the line the way Kerr or Cousins did. He was an explosive player but not even in the top five mids of the 2000s for mine.

Oath,

Take away his Richmond games and he slips from 9th in goals per game, to 9th in goals per game.

Absolute spud.

Nice to see this opinion on both Peter and Judd. Rare. I am not alone.
