Lillard is up there, but his overall percentage will stop him from being among the top few. Only once over 40% (barely at 40.1%).

True, but I think there's an important distinction between guys who are creating their own shot vs playing off ball.

Lillard isn't assisted on more than half his career threes made, which is astounding. Also there's the sheer volume of makes, which obviously is something that sets a lot of the modern elite apart.

Volume is important. Steve Kerr shooting 3 wide open 3s a game, vs Steph taking 12 a game (2 uncontested) is a huge factor.

I mean Steph's dad was an awesome shooter in his own right, but doing it off the bench or as a role player is a specialist role.

You talk this sweeping statement like nobody else has an opinion that no other player is considered the best shooter of all time, which is bullshit as you don't know what every single player's view is.

All I know is the defence of 2021 ain't sh*t compared to other eras.

And defence is highly important in the context of how easily and frequently players get shots off.

Being an outstanding shooter in an era where defence was at its peak levels meant you had to be an extraordinary shooter to stand out.

Now you've got all the rules on your side and half arses defenders guarding you.

Three pointers, sort of important when talking about shooters.

So Curry shoots 48% from midrange since he became MVP Curry. I'm comfortable in saying that would be as good as any mid range shooter in the history of the league.



I see others have answered all your other crazy, but this was particularly laughable when it comes to 3 point defense.

What's Luc Longley doing to guard Curry on a switch?

Here's Michael Jordan making 6 threes in a half against Portland in the NBA Finals. In the NBA Finals when defense was at it's strongest. What's Curry doing when he's getting defended like that? They aren't even putting their hands up.



They hardly ever defended 3 pointers back in the day. There was no such thing as the flyby

It's what sets guys like Steph apart from your traditional three point shooters back in the day like Legler, Craig Hodges, Kerr, Kapono etc...

Kerr though shouldnt be forgotten. Kerr in his prime against Steph in a three point contest would be interesting. Obviously in game it's completely different and they are worlds apart.

I believe Bird has hit more game winner shots than MJ but still the way bird would tell opponents literally where he was going to shoot and it was going in no matter what they did they weren't stopping him I mean can't go past Bird.

Bird has the advantage (as do most of the guys from the 80s, and from the 90s to a lesser extent), that no one watched many games. So, it's all legend.

That's not to say that Bird didn't hit big shots (he did), but no one replays any misses (like they do for today's players).
