Both are versatile talls who have played ruck, forward and down back, but who is the better footballer?

I'm coming around to Clark after the weekend's matches and seeing some of Ryder's efforts in the ruck. Ryder looks exciting and he's a lovely long and straight kick, but lacks the output of someone with his reputation.

Clark isn't a poor athlete and is a big mark in his own right, but hasn't had the run of games like Ryder due to injuries.

Clark if he can stay injury free.

I am more than happy to have Mitch Clark instead of Ryder. I think Clark will be an absolute gun and more damaging than Ryder, but at the moment I think Ryder has performed more consistently than Clark has. Of course a large part of this is because of Clark's injury history, but it can't be ignored.

Clark will prove to be the better of these two over time

if injury free for a long period he'll quickly prove why he's very highly thought of by the Brisbane supporter base

It's hard to say really...Clark showed what he can be against Essendon in the NAB Cup this season and really gave us headaches in that last quarter. I just don't think he does it consistently enough to be rated higher than Paddy ATM.

Ryder has spent 99% of his football career to date down back, and performed admireably against some of the better key forwards in the game, despite giving away 5-6kg to his opponents.

IMO Ryder's future lies as a permanent forward/relieving ruck and anyone who watched his game against Freo would note how dangerous he can be as a forward, he has one of the best kicks for a big man you'll see.

I think both player's have suffered because their teams have had 4 of the better key forwards over the last decade (Brown, Bradshaw, Lucas & Lloyd) - I'd really love to see what M Clark could do with the whole forward line to himself, ditto for Paddy.

My bias would see me select Ryder over Clark

Ryder slightly at the moment because of his consistency but over their careers Mitch will be the better player IMO and show why he was considered the #1 pick at one stage.

Paddy needs to get some mongrol in him to take the next step. We know he has the skills he just needs to find the fire in his belly to really stand up and dominate.

Mitch Clark will pass him by if this doesn't happen.

They are different style players. Ryder is athletic and can run and carry alot more. Clark is more of a big bodied marking player. I just think that Ryder has alot more inprovment to come in his career.

Bump.

Was making this in the poll board, before finding this thread.

Obviously Ryder has been better than Clark in recent times, but Clark has so much abity and could yet become the better player.

Both underachieved a little so far in their careers.
