Hello Adelaide fans,

The best and worst trade thread got me thinking about who is the worst player to pull on the Adelaide jumper.

Obviously i do not know anywhere as near as much about AFC as you guys do and i guess there must be a lot of players who were great in th SAFL but could not make the AFL grade.

My nomination for what it is worth is Adam Saliba. I never saw him do anything good. What was his story (history, background etc) and who do you think was the worst.

Cheers.

Saliba actually played a good game against Sydney once and so he probably isn't the worst ever.

I would have to go for either Darryl Wintle, Dean Howard or possibly Linden Stevens (poor kid).

Of those that played a few games - Tim Cook gets my vote - a shocker (yes Galllagher was better)

Gallagher played a good game for us last year at Optus Oval...

:D

Correct me if I'm wrong, but.. Laurence Angwin was pretty crap, wasnt he?

He never played for the Crows. That's why he's not included in my worst team as he never played.

Not his ability that was in question, but his attitude and commitment.

What a collection!!! Apart from Picione and Ormond-Allen, who could both play a bit, it really does read like a who's who at the zoo rather than a list of footballers!! :)

While David Gallagher stands out as the worst of the last 3 years or so, (or is it Lucas Herbert??) what about Downsborough and Doreen Smith - they actually make Schell and Marsh look brave!!!

What !!! You mean Adam Saliba would not get in your worst 21.

He must have done a lot i did not see :)

David Gallagher by a country mile.

I always judge footballers by redeeming features.

Was Gallagher:

Fast? No.
Hard at the ball? No.
Could he kick long distances/hard and straight? No.
Was he good with his hands? No.
Could he tackle/chase hard? No.
Was he strong in the air/could he take a pack mark? No.
Could he crumb? No.
Was he at least 50/50 in a one-on-one contest? No.
Was he all-round garbage? YES!

One name is missing from the list - Aaron Keating. How many touches did he get for us? Was it one kick that he got as a result of a freekick?

EDIT: Just on Gallagher... what makes everything worse is that unlike the other blokes on the list that sapaul gave, Gallagher was a high draft pick with massive wraps. Was an All-Australian at U18 level and was touted as being one of the best midfielders of his class/year.

Guys like Saliba, Patterson, Tasker, Mail etc were all SANFL fodder that was picked for the hell of it.

I remember Saliba's 3 games and especially that one against Sydney(as Jars458 mentioned), Saliba also played State of Origin in 1992 after having only played I think 2 matches for the Crows.:)

D Gallagher fustrated me more than any other footballer! With the others listed the coaching staff usually realised early in the piece that they were duds & not to give them any further games. WIth D Gallagher we kept giving him more opportunities. Why? To reduce the Crows membership waiting list? :o

Can't really argue about any of the above, other than I thought he was reasonably hard at the ball.

But overall an absolute stinker - a genuine C P (can't play)

Yeah David Gallagher was taken in the 2nd round pick 29 I think. That was a waste of space.
