Smorgon has got his way and the Pigdogs have officially changed their original club song to that 15 minutes of fame, one hit wonder dirge "Who let the Dog's out"

You think I'm joking?

I'm not!

Yeah who did let the dogs out. Hopefully someone will put them back.

Where did you hear that?! Sons of the West is still the official club song!

We're trialling it for the Saints match, and based on the reception it'll get, they will decide if it gets the go-ahead for more games during the season..... and it's ONLY while the players run on to the ground/through the banner... not an official change of our club song!

I can't stand the "song" myself, and think a lot of doggies fans feel the same (as would most football goers). On our forum "Go West" was also suggested, and had some backing from a few of the posters.

I'm suprised they've gone through with this, but at least the song represents a different approach at marketing the game for the kids, and looking at our membership situation, we have to try something to get everyone involved! I just hope they don't go down the American basketball 'spotlight on players in darkness' style of team-entry. *cringe*

On the bright side though, the 'song's better than that stupid electronic bear!!....

BTW:- Sons of the West will still be played at the end of the match.... hey Sainters?

CJH & Darky,

You guys really haven't heard "Who let the dogs out"?

It is kind of catchy, but you're not missing too much!

It was number 1 for weeks or even months all over the world but I get the feeling that the both of you aren't really into mainstream music.

Westy,

I hope not.

Gee, after having to listen to the "Baha Men" at the start of the game and the "virtual doggie" after each goal, I'm glad we only have to play one away game against you guys every year.

Actually, phreeze, I have one of those new fangled thingys, what are they called? CD players I think.
Problem is when I cut up all my old vinyl records to fit them in the slot, they won't play

Which gets us fairly nicely back to marketing gurus being allowed out of their (box).

Catering to the lowest common demoninator out west by the sound of things.

I hope you doggie supporters don't mind listening to a few nice robust renditions of When The Saints Go Marching In at the end of the match.

I can see why they would introduce 'modern' music for when the players run through the banner, but personally I think the tension builds and the crowd can sing along to the clubs theme song when the players run out onto the ground.

Heck, if they are going to have the Baha Men for the Bulldogs, will they start playing an All Saints song if StKilda win?
