Who had heard the new version of the bombers song from the www.essendonfc.com.au website. I like it, how it goes on about our boys from Wendy Hill.

Nothing beats the original though, can't wait to hear it played about ten times at 5.15pm Sat Arvo.

I know I sound like a bit of a dork, but the first time that I listened to that song was after the Prelim last year and I cried.

That song is really good, but they will always play the traditional after wins.

I was about to start up a post on club theme songs that have changed over the past few years . . a few examples are:

* Western Bulldogs/Footscray changing the 'sons of the scray' to 'sons of the west'

* North Melbourne cutting out the North Melbourne bits and adding more 'Kangaroos'

* West Coast Eagles - totally going for a makeover and cutting out the verses and making an up-beat chorus.

* Geelong tried to have a different theme, but it hardly worked.

* Adelaide changed from 'pride of south australia' to something else.

* Brisbane Bears/Lions adapted the old Fitzroy theme and removing the 'Dare to beat the Bear' melody.

* Sydney changed from 'Cheer Cheer the Red and The Whites' to an 'Up their Cazaley' tune.

If you can think of any more - let me know

That 'new' one is infact old. Just due to the crumminess of the webmaster he hasn't been bothered to put a new front page up (or fix the messageboard but that's another matter) for over a year.

Essendon played that 'new' version in Rd 1 1999 vs. Carlton and it was pure shite, and for the following week EFC fans clogged the clubs phone system and crashed it's Fax line in disgust.

The following week the 'old' one returned and that 'new' shite has never been heard of again. Thank christ for that. But what you expect from that music turd Mike Brady?

Max Power,

That new version thet you mention in Round 1 1999 is NOT the version discussed here.

There is ANOTHER version, sung by the same guy who sung "up there cazaly"

It's much beter than the garbage they spurted out in Round 1 1999. Download it.
