in his early days he was a player with good potential... he never reached it. What's there to miss?
That's the point of this thread. We have 30 players filling the above role very nicely at the moment!
Until we have everyone playing at their potential, we don't have a need for missing Mark Richardson.
Which makes me think, funny that before the "Father/Son" rule of recruiting came in, sons of good players that came to clubs weren't given such a spotlight to become good. Richo was just a dud all by himself! :p
I remember him kicking five goals against Adelaide in 1991 at Vic Park in his first year. He was going to be a full forward at that stage. Him and Shane Watson!

I think he finished just short of 15 years as a Collingwood player. Now there is a scary thought.

And as I said, if he debuted 10 years later, bigfooty.com would have been full of threads saying:
COLLINGWOOD TAKES ANOTHER FATHER/SON DUD.
RICHARDSON MAKES THE CLOKES LOOK GOOD
I WANT TO BE COOL AND JUMP ON THE BAG COLLINGWOOD BANDWAGON!

Thankfully for Marky Mark, he wasn't afforded such (attempted) humiliation.

He was like 99% of Collingwood players throughout the 90s (with one name being the exception, can you guess? ). Triers with no skill. Not his fault.

What we are forgetting is that Mark Richardson played 143 AFL Games!!!!

Only about 15% of footballers play 150 games.

And he absolutely set the league alight in those 143 games didnt he...

You can't say he is ********...for two reasons.

a) He played right throughout the 90's for Collingwood. Only 3 other players (Monkhorst, Brown, Crocisca, all premiership players) did that.

b) Ho many games of AFL Football did you play?

Considering he kicked some big hauls of goals at 18, he became another one of Leigh Matthews stuck in reserves players why someone like Brereton was Leighs brainwave for our future.

Mark didnt become a permament fixture until Tony Shaw came and then he came through as a backman.

More like a waisted talent, a bit like Jason McCartney under Leigh.
