Honorable mentions to Adams who needs to average 25 odd possessions this season

WHOA.

Christ I hope you don't expect every midfielder to be averaging 25 possessions when they're 22 years old :S.

20 disposals, 4+ clearances, 4+ tackles with 15+ games would be an amazing improvement and anything more is icing on the cake. If he can reach 5+ in both he'd be knocking on the door of top-10 in each category come 2016.

Adams averaged 21 possesions when he wasn't the sub. 25 in 2015 isn't out of the question.

Yes but I don't believe him averaging 25+ possessions next year is a necessity for us, nor for him. I also expect it's something he'll be averaging by the time he's 24 or 25, not 22.

I don't expect it. But I think it is what the team needs.

Based on last year, everyone needs to step up.

I think Sidebottom can hold his head up as he had a real go all year

Pendles too, though as a captain I'd like to see him step up a little more in terms of firing up those around him.

There was a malaise about the team
last season, on the whole they didn't have the passion we'd have hoped for.

Is that too harsh, maybe.

The body language was terrible even when guys kicked goals, tackling pressure etc, just not enough sense of aggression or enjoying their work.

Just needs one or two to put a buzz back in the place and a few early wins wouldn't go astray.

Fasolo- talks the talk, yet to walk the walk consistently.
Dwyer- IMO should be delisted, if not needs to lift.
Kennedy- Needs to get his fitness up, needs to develop an outside game/link player, otherwise he's only a slight upgrade on Blair.
Blair- Not impressed with his year, seems a coaches pet, I wouldn't have him in my best 22.
Young- Needs to step up to stay in the seniors, I don't see it happening.
Brown- Not on form cos he wasn't out there, but needs to get his body right, cos we need him.
White- His raw numbers were ok, but needs to step up otherwise Gault or Moore may take his spot. Again can't see it happening.
Reid- Was injured alot but when he did play VFL and AFL was very ordinary.
Keefe- Needs to grow some confidence, looks nervous too often for mine.
Thomas- Consistency is the key, he can play just not often enough. Lacks intensity for mine.
Armstrong- Played ok against weaker sides, was shitful against Hawthorn, needs to do more than 20m chip passes.
Cloke- Was horrible, I figured with the stress of contract time behind him he would have fired, he sputtered.
Seedsman- Expected big things, pre season hampered by hip op, needs to take the next step, could be damaging.

Need to bust their guts and aim for best 22
Karnezis, Seeds, Grundy, Williams, Fas, Kennedy, JT, Gault, Ramsay, Armstrong, Greenwood, Varco, Crinkles.

Just get on the park
SBurger & Freeman

At the xroads
Young, Keefe, Brown, Dwyer, Sinclair, Swan

Show some consistency and improve further
Witts, Frost, Langdon, Broomhead, Adams

Absolutely need to step it up
White, Cloke, Goldsack, Blair & Reid

Take it to warp factor 10 (Pendles level)
Elliot & Sidebottom

Cloke would be first for me. Gave very little last year for a player of his status. Swan to rebound, had a lot of injuries last year. Seedsman and Fasolo to hopefully show they are more than just unfulfilled talents, BenReid to play at least 15 games, those would be the main ones, I guess.

Like to see him start fast - seems like the last couple of seasons he's been very slow out of the blocks in the first half dozen games or so.

It's no difference to a business

The manager is to blame - The buck always stops at the top

Nathan Buckley needs to effin stand up

Sure the head coach isn't on the field, however he/she is responsible for creating a healthy / winning culture which has a flow on effect on game day.

Staff don't perform, you performance plan them out the door.

Sadly I think we will see more of the same in 2015 - Port, Hawks, Sydney, Dockers are miles a head of the pack.

However I'm happy to point out Im happy to be wrong lol

I know what you mean.

I was talking to a few friends about this very problem; when we kick goals the players almost look like they don't care, they don't get excited and they don't get around each other and celebrate, apart from Sidebottom who almost nearly has a smile on his face when he slots one through.

Cloke shows passion when he slots one through and he really gets pumped up but it seems as if Eliott is coming back from a funeral each time he kicks a goal, he doesn't really show much emotion like happiness or excitement, only on rare occasions, he simply continues on with the game.

I remember Beams wouldn't show much emotion when he kicked a goal or two, and it feels almost awkward watching them celebrate games as some of the players look really distant from each other. There are differently friendship groups amongst team mates, I'm not denying that but sometimes it looks as, as a group, they don't have much chemistry. Compare this with Geelong or Hawthorn and other clubs when they celebrate and they seem really close.

I still remember those CFC videos with Heater, Thomas, Dids and Wellingham and they always looked like they were having a great time, joking around and all, and there's a massive difference between the body language in the 2010 premiership team and this seasons team. It's difficult to even find an adequate explanation or to pinpoint the issue to a particular problem. Maybe I'm being overly critical BUT this was one of major concerns as the season progressed for me and it was a very obvious problem IMO but I didn't know if anyone else felt the same way or had questioned this aspect of the teams body language.

The 1%s also matter and make a huge difference I've noticed. The way Maxy would get the backline pumped with his intensity and voice is something that puts nerves into opposition teams and just gives an inch of more confidence. I noticed whenever Maxy didn't play alongside Frost that Frost would often drop easy marks when he was under little or no pressure at all.

I hope Pendles becomes more vocal as well and if one of the other veterans can step up and fill in the gap of that leadership position - even our game structure looked out of place in the 2nd half of the year when we began to slump in form without Maxy. Our structures really seemed off in the 2nd half of the season but I can't say for sure that this was because of Maxy, injuries definitely played their part.

For me, it only takes a few players to click and show some on-field passion; i.e. Didak's shimmy's, Maxwell's passion when punching an incoming ball out of bounds or 20m up-field, Sidebottom's wide grin as he slots one through, a bit of passion brings out the confidence in others.

So much I think will depend on the unity of the team next year and a few blokes taking on some responsibility. Have to agree that the body language did not fill me with confidence this year but it's hard to know what is chicken and what is egg in that area. Regardless of that you'd like to think that players will be out there playing for each other and celebrating their achievements a bit more enthusiastically.

I think it's a little odd for people to be including Swan in the "must step up" group because from all reports just being out there for much of this season was pretty heroic. Reid and Brown I would also think should be regarded as givens assuming they remain fit so I think calling for them to step up is also probably a bit off the mark. Fasolo is definitely one as is Adams. These guys are both better than their 2014 form showed and I am expecting big things from them in 2015. White is the number one candidate for me. He has flashes of brilliance which tell you what he could be but brings it out way too infrequently. I hope he's been working very hard on his marking too because clunking some critical marks will work wonders for his confidence.

Spot on, would be great if he could get out of the gates fast and it would be great for his confidence. The good thing is he works hard even when struggling.
