It's a flawed concept of ownership. The members own the clubs because they vote in a board? Boards of toothless tigers who walk lockstep to the diktat from city Hall. (To mangle half a dozen metaphors!)

Who selects who and how things are governed?

Could change be initiated? If so how?

Because the clubs own the AFL via the commission but the AFL can dictate a hell of a lot ok individual clubs to their own detriment where it is advantageous for the AFL to do so.

My understanding is that the AFL owns the brands and thereby has the power.
