Who Remenbers?

I'm hoping that someone can settle a bet that I have with a friend of mine.

Fitzroy played Nth Melbourne at the Junction oval in 1983 and thumped Nth by about 150 points.

How many goals did Matt Rendell kick? My memory tells me that he played most of the game in the forward pocket and kicked 9 goals. My friend is certain that he kicked eight goals.

Please do not refer to old Footy records or stats as we have found conflicting figures. Some records show that he kicked 8 whilst others show that he kicked 9.

Who remember's?

Nope...he kicked 8.0 in a Fitzroy team that kicked 34.16

Thanks for your feedback. I found it really interesting. I wont be telling my mate that 8 goals had more support than 9.

For me to concede, he'll have to prove it somehow.

When Rendell kicked his last goal that day, he was on the half forward flank & running towards where I was standing, in front of the Kevin Murray Stand. He was looking around for someone to pass to, but everyone was covered. Then a change come over him & you could almost read in his face, when he decided "I'll have a crack at this" & he threw the ball onto his boot, kicked it over his shoulder & straight through for a goal. He couldn't do a thing wrong.

Conlan's 7 goals were all in the 2nd half, but I think he might have been on the bench in the 1st half.

Matt's number was 9 so maybe that's caused some confusion.

Well its hard to believe a video company would make a video tape of the 83 season and do all the research on it and get the figures wrong, i think thats pathetic!!
