Who should have the coveted number 23?

1960's John Peck
1970's Don Scott
1980's Dermott Breaton

Then we had Collica and Thompson in it

Who deserves it?

I think we should give it to a person who typifies the character and skill which epitomized the numbers fore fathers.

Make something of it, like we did with the late Peter Crimmins and the number 5 jumper.

We should make it a big deal, there have been a lot of legends at our club who have worn the number so let’s continue on with the tradition.

So I ask you this, who deserves the number at the moment, and who do you believe will get it.

I think Roughead would look good in number 4. Lewis number 2 and Franklin gets the 23 for mine... get boyle out of 36 and give him 20.

I wore the Number in the the late 70's( fully mulleted) and did it proud what I lacked in skill I made up for with mongrel.

Between Don Scott and Dermott Brereton, Paul Abbott wore No 23 in 1982, but didn't play a league match.

After Dermie, custodians of the (once great) No 23 were:
Simon Crawshay (1994-1996)
Justin Crawford (1997-1998)
Michael Collica (1999-2000)
Nathan Thompson (2001-2004)

After that quartet of losers, does the club still treasure the No 23?

2001?

2001 had it's own special mediocrity. 8 wins in the first 8 matches, then we won only 5 games in final 14 rounds. A reasonably good finals series flattered us a little.

Good point.

But there were some very special moments in there.

1996 was also good, just to make the finals was a hell of an achievement
