Who Stood Up?

Steele ****ing Sidebottom was brilliant. So composed on the big stage, good on him

Benny Reid and N. Brown. Anyone who questions their ability should take a look at themselves coz these boys can play

Thomas was our B.O.G by a mile

Captain Nick was great also

These Players Stood Up:

  • Daisy
  • Sidebottom
  • N Brown
  • Reid
  • L Brown
  • Heater

Thought Maxy was our best clearly.

Then the rest of your list TD, roughly in same order aswell, though I didn't notice Leroy so much.

Just about first game all year, it hasn't been the Swan, Pendles, Didak trifecta.

Wow, those guys were well held. Tooves did well also

my immediate thoughts after the game (though i might change my mind on some of these after watching the replay)

Maxwell more than anyone.

shaw stepped up a gear in the 2nd half.

reid was good

N.Brown: was good, started to struggle late but he had a huge job and was generally good

dawes was ok

johnson was ok

l.brown & ball were ok/average/quiet

blair/macaffer - were ok.. offered something bu were quiet at times

didak was ok, if slightly disappointing

swan, pendlebury, wellingham, jolly were disappointing

davis was very disappointing (but that goal was awesome)

thomas was good, but let us down with some of his disposals

sidebottom: see thomas

beams: see thomas/sidebottom

i thought toovey was disappointing, but not sure who he was on, he may have shut someone down so i'll reserve judgement til ive watched the replay

harry: disappointing. gave away 2 goals in the last quarter

cloke: slow start, worked his way into the game, was good in the end, but he cost us dearly with those 2 misses in the 2nd quarter

i marked some players harder, because well, id expect more from them

Maxwell, Thomas, Toovey, N Brown, Reid, Shaw, Steele are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Cloke would have been included if he'd kicked the goals he should have.

thomas, toovey, and steen made some shocking errors in disposal, and in my opinion should be marked more harshly.

disposal aside thomas was probably our best.. but it really let him down.

maxwell was his ever reliant self.

As a neutral supporter I thought Maxwell, Sidebottom, Thomas, Shaw, Brown and Toovey had good games. The rest were average at best.

Agreed. Most of our stars barely shone, and Beams hasn't done much for a while now.

Everyone's Disposal was off today

I thought everyone tried their hardest and they should learn a lot about themselves and how they operate under pressure.

I can only see this as a good experience for the younger players. Now they all know about what its like to play in a grand final....

the job is only half done, the second half of the match is next week...

the more i think about it, the more i think that it's a miracle we didnt lose.

the coaching staff will be quite clear in conveying this message to the players you'd think.

so much upside for us i reckon.

st.kilda on the other hand threw everything they had at us today, alot of their players played out of their skins, and they couldnt beat us.

as long as we dont put in another pitiful performance like that, we should get up

Thomas was fantastic today ... I loved seeing it, too, because I knew supporters from every other club would be watching and, for many of them, finally getting a glimpse of how well he plays. Most of the supporters who criticise Thomas have no f**king idea what he does every week.

i think "saints playing well" and "us having a pitiful performance" go hand in hand....

St Kilda did a good job of stopping our midfield today

agreed - I think we have another gear while Sainters did really well but probably don't have anything left. Well done to both sides and hats off to the Saints for plugging away.
Travesty if we lost

Really happy with N Brown

totally argree mate

Maxwell, Sidebottom, Toovey, and Daisy were my only stars. Can only bode well for next Satdy that the rest were very ordinary.

My biggest shockers were.....Leroy gave away 5 stupid free kicks early just falling into Saints players backs.

Harry was very clumsy with the ball and poor disposal.

Cloke in the second cost us three goals and the premiership, trying to mark and not shepherding Sidebottoms long range goal go through, then the two simple misses.

The rest were plain ordinary, so couldn't imagine them all playing that poorly again. We should win easily...:)

didn't harry have a shocking last quarter.

in a low scoring game he was directly involved in all 3 goals.

1. the holding the ball
2. being outmarked by milne (which was unforgivable IMO)
3. being the podium for goddards mark
