I feel a bit sorry for Dalziell. I think he gave everything he had.

Are we able to use 4 picks in the draft and then delist/rookie someone after?

Well its probably for the best, but why keep both of Butler and Smith instead? In my mind Butler would have been the one to as I think others will be better placed to fill his role and he hasn't got another string to his game.
Honestly, i just saw this on FB from the club page and was pretty disappointed that these two were cut and MCginnity, Smith and even Waters and Butler were kept. I know people will not agree with me, but when it comes to Waters and Butler i just think they are spent injury wise, so are not much good being on the list even for depth because they get injured so often. McGinnity has no skills that warrant an AFL spot and Smith does not look interested. I though Morton had shown that he had done what the club had asked him this year by at least hitting contests harder, and when he played for us he was dangerous in a couple of games that he did play, so i would of given him one more year. Dalziell is the perfect depth player imo.
Morton and Dalziell were out of contract. The others you mentioned weren't.
you can still delist contracted players, you just need to include their salary in next years cap and pay them out, or maybe we don't have room in this years capMorton and Dalziell were out of contract. The others you mentioned weren't.
Could we still not delist them due to injury or any other reason we deem fit? We have plenty of money, i'm sure we could pay them out if need be seeings as they havent added much onfield in the last season or more due to being constantly injured.

Salary cap would be a problem as the payouts would be included - Kerr was different because he isn't going to play football anywhere so we can use the injury for his payout to be excluded from the cap. We wouldn't be able to do that with anyone else.
wasn't gary ablet sr delisted from hawthorn?Hopefully we're learning to not take on other clubs delisted players.
Have any delisted players ever moved on to become decent to good players in another team?

Really disappointed to lose Dalziell, he really stepped up and performed pretty well in a really poor and injury ravaged season. Even if he is just injury cover, there's no guarantee that we'll fare better with injuries next season. Definitely deserves to be on the list more than a few of the contracted players, like Smith. If we didn't jump the gun and upgrade both Bennell and Tunbridge, he would probably be safe. Not likely to happen, but I wouldn't him being put on the rookie list.
Not surprised with Morton, he was really ordinary in the WAFL GF in particular.
Was expecting Newman to be delisted like most people, is he contracted next year or not?
