DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Dale Tapping, Anthony Rocca, Tarkyn Lockyer, Jared Rivers

THE GUN
Tapping has been the Magpies' VFL coach since 2013 and has taken the team to the finals each season, this year progressing through to a narrow semi-final loss to Sandringham. The Pies' development structure has been relatively stable over the past few years, and enters 2016 with just one addition to the panel after the departure of Craig McCrae, who has gone to Richmond to head up the Tigers' VFL team. McCrae was development manager at Collingwood, which is a role that won't be filled next season, and also oversaw the defenders' development. Former Melbourne and Geelong defender Jared Rivers has replaced him in respect to developing the Pies' backmen, while Anthony Rocca (forwards) and Tarkyn Lockyer (midfielders) will again fill roles specific to each line.

Wasn't 2015 his first year after taking over from Lappin?

Our forward line would function a lot better if our forwards could kick straight.
Yes but I don't know how you can go from Freo's backline coach to Collingwood backline coach to forward coach, without much or any of a playing background? I've never heard of him.

I think Cloke didn't get enough opportunities, everything seemed to go through White. I think White, Cloke, Moore is too tall and I'm worried they will add Howe to that and be way too tall.

I admit I wouldn't be able to pick him from a line up let alone judge his coaching ability but an ex Freo coach as our forward coach I'm not convinced about.

Anyone know what Jamie Cassidy-McNamara - Skill Acquisition Coordinator
does?

What does this mean?
I believe he will be looking at kicking and running techniques from a scientific point of view and seeing if they can change actions to improve accuracy or distance of kicks

Also to develop match simulated drills and ranking points using a pressure index per individual.

No surprise hawthorn was the first afl club who employed such a position in 2006 I think it was. Rest of the footy world catching up now.

He's been around the block but he did 1 year as a backline development coach. If we going to go in-house what about Lockyer or Rocca?

Surely we have the coin to do better than this bloke...
