Which player/s really let you down from your club last week.

- Be it a star who had an off night
- A regular dud
- A rookie who showed nothing
- A development player who you were really hoping to take the next step and cement a round 1 spot.

For Melbourne it was Yze and Brad Miller.

Yze accumulated 10 possessions but about 8 of them were 'soccer off the grounds' and still doesn't like the hard stuff. Round 1 spot is in danger if he doesn't lift his game. Also didn't kick a goal in the small forward spot.

Brad Miller - "All hype no sizzle". After his impressive 16 mark performance in the Freo final, Miller was back to his usual self. 2 kicks, 1 mark, 1 behind is simply not good enough for a player who wants to be a premier CHF in the game.

Hard to say ... I don't think anyone really had a shocking game .. I thought Ackland was a bit quiet .. but aside from that. :thumbsu:

Where are the Melbourne supporters who claimed he's better than Jarrod Waite

Totally agree. Yze should be made to earn his spot through Sandringham particularly with the youngsters we have coming through. Going by his NAB Cup performance Chris Johnson could slide into Yze spot without much trouble. I think Miller should be used in Round 1 but not at the expense of Dunn. If it is one or the other I'd probably prefer Dunn.

Others who were disappointing for Melbourne were Bizzell and Godfrey. Bizzell may be good as depth during the year but I cant understand how Godfrey continues to get games.

Tim Boyle - Would have liked to see a more influential game from the big fella up forward - easing a bit of the pressure off Roughead and Buddy.

Matty Little - Had a Leon Davis-esque performance, but it's fair enough given it was his first game.

Chance Bateman - Had a generally good game, but i'd like to see him do the little things right (i.e running straight at the goal and then kicking rather than running at an angle despite being unmarked and slotting a behind).

Generally happy with the game, a bit disappointed by the laziness shown by the players just before half-time and for most of the third quarter. Seemed like the boys were so confident of winning that they tried to dish off responsibility to other players.

Stop taking this seriously and talking sense Phil otherwise you'll have to card yourself. :)

For collingwood i would say,

Guy richards, ben davies, chris bryan, all displayed a zero level of talent and a high level of patheticness in round 1.

Kepler Bradley. He lacks so much awareness he wouldn't even know he was on a footy field if it weren't for the umpire signalling frees against him.

:D.......yze will come good for the dees if he is fit, he plays well when he is 100% fit. for everyone 1% off you lose about 5-10% in output and effort. he was running at 60-70% on the weekend. so it was more of a 'andrew walker' your better off with 17 players performance from yze.

A tad concerning given that at least one of these, and possibly both won't get much better.

For our mob, I thought there was a very even spread, and as such no-one really starred. I actually thought Lance and Scotty were quietish on the night, compared to their usual dominance

Just make sure we play him every Queens Bday so he can kick his lazy 4 or 5. ;)

Richard 'ruddy' Cole. A roly poly version of Cupido who refuses to chase his opponents or show anything that resembles a footballer fighting for his career. An absolute DUD!
Yes his chasing was crap. Not much heart I'm afraid..

Apart from him..

Bradley - He is useless, cant hit a target if his life depended on it
Peverill - As above
Laycock - First game back for awhile but was killed in the ruck

I still have no idea why Sheedy bothered with Richie Cole.

He needs to start focusing on running a football team again rather than operating "Uncle Kevin's Home for Wayward and Unloved Football Players".
