Gave it to Kernahan, probably club bias. Ebert a great of the game no doubt, and I have seen him play. Craig Bradley not far behind from Port. Just poor choice of club from both IMO.Russell Ebert.
Probably the Dominator in terms of actually being able to play to win big games.
In pure talent as a player has to be Gary Ablett.
The first time I ever went to a game not involving my club simply motivated to see another player in person,it was Gary Ablett.
Lokett was not far off in that regards but was purely a full forward only.
In this era it is Cyril Rioli that is almost talented enough to drag me through the gate on his own.
When the Dominaor was gone the next big game player I loved watching in terms of winning big games it was Michael Voss. Of the two hat trick flags I seen, those clubs would not have won three in a row without Voss and Rioli. Genuine superstars of this 21st century of football.
Cyril would hardly have been noticed in the 90's when the superstars were bigger freaks- Carey, Ablett, Lockett, Dunstall etc. Abraham would stand out like dogs balls in the current Hawks side. Can't recall his performance in the 98 GF, have never seen the replay and spent the day getting ushered from walkways on the top of the 3rd level without a ticket. Can just remember how windy it was and the umpiring looked disgraceful from up there.I'd hate to imagine Bruce calling Winstons high marking considering how pedestrian he makes Rioli look. I remember him dominanting on a wing in the first quarter of the 98 GF then he got pushed deep forward for the rest of the match & couldn't get near it. Don't what Pagan was thinking that day. Pity about that knee injury when he was trying to crash into Hird, don't know what he was doing.
Zizou.
