I have seen a few mean looking blokes in some old footy books I have
my top ten from the A to Z of Football book by Jim Main & Ken Piesse from 1982 are

Bruce Doull
Simon Madden (with his famous beard)
David Dench
Ross Henshaw
Rod Carter
Robbert Klomp
Peter Bosustow
Paul Van Der Her
Chris Hansen
Ian Hampshire

they are just a few there are also alot of goofy, drugged up, spaz looking pics in this book if anyone wants me too I can scan a few and put them up just let me know

"Fabulous Phil" Carman. If there was ever a man who suffered from white-line fever it was him.

As for Robbert Klomp, dunno if I can agree there. He was too busy preening his beard and taking elocution lessons to be mean. :D

I think some of you guys have missed something here,
I quoted these blokes from the A to Z of football players made in 1982, I know there are a lot of phyco's out there who played the game I was just listing the ones which I saw in the book, there are a lot of mug shots in that book
as for Robert Klomp he looks pretty scary in the book, if you want me to post a few pics from it just let me know

Still keep listing the meanist players you have ever seen

you missed Robert Muir...seems a nice guy off the field when hes not raping young girls in ballarat.

Funny you should mention him Dio, I thought of "Mad Dog" Muir after I logged off last night.

The guy was a fuit loop. After he finished up in the VFL he came back to SA. Some guy was tormenting him from the terraces and Muir lept the fence and clocked him one.

That contrived segment on the Footy Show with him was kinda scary because it was almost beleivable based on his past behaviour.

How could ya ferget Rotten Ronnie Andrews?

Big, small, fat, skinny, Ronnie didn't care. Heard him say in an interview on his career a few years back "You know what it's like, ya see a head and ya hit it" Big Ron was quite mad, Lethal Leigh himself once said Ronnie was the one bloke who made him nervous on the footy field.

In fact, i still remember the day Ronnie clocked Matthews at Princes Park back in '83. The same match in which Dipper took out 'Rocky' Stoneham with the crudest elbow i've ever seen.

where's wally?

John Ironmonger was a imposing man but he was more like a gentle giant.

Bruce Doull was a ferocious looking guy.
