Just say 2-3 usual game winners lost their position. this 'tagging. argument is semantics (not your fault)
your critiquers seem to be ignoring that wiz's opponent got 5 coaches votes

in an 18 a side game others pick up the slack. Moorey/Meek got us off to a great start which was the difference in the end

Yes, just sounds like silly semantics & expressions.

I personally wouldn't call defensive fwd roles a tag, or lockdown ones. Just midfield ones.

Maybe I'm old though.

**** yeah.

I got tagged my whole career in the Ressies (when I played down fwd).

New flex coming up.

Unfortunately, I had a few tagging roles myself :(.
If you played reserves you barely had a gameplan, let alone any idea about handing over players in transition.

Thats a very immoderate introduction from a person who likes to hang a moderators tag on themselves - to make things even funnier is that you seem totally oblivious to the notion of a team playing man on man and having players accountable for their direct opponent- or perhaps if we wish to take the discussion further - a hybrid combination of man on man and zone depending on whatever a coach might like to see whenever they choose to see it..

PS spare me and the reader of the thread generalisations about Carlton supporters - take it to the Bay or your own board if you want to slag off .
FMD, man on man simply means 1 player takes an opponent, instead of space or a zone.

Teams play man on man most weeks without having a dedicated player who’s job it is to follow a player anywhere and everywhere. That’s a tag.

I won’t make generalisations about Carlton fans if the Carlton fans in this thread stop wearing their lack of footy knowledge like a badge of honor.

Dude, cut it out.

A Hawks poster was chest beating saying that Dean Cox deployed 3 taggers against the Hawks, which is so unheard of in modern day footy its not funny.

It's semantics but it can easily be construed that a defensive fwd role or another non-midfield lockdown role is not a tag.

If it were so cut and dry, then the argument of 'is team xxxx going to tag?' or 'why don't coaches tag more these days?" would have never have happened - because lockdown & defensive fwd roles have been around forever.

And re: the ressies pisstake - I played at a decent level and no coach (two of them are AFL assistants now), never used the term tagging for the aforementioned roles.

If you want to claim your team is that good that the opposition needs to tag 3 players, then fine. But don't act like it's some obvious argument and everyone else is stupid for questioning it.

Read the post above - I'm too busy laughing at your ignorance wearing the clothes of arrogance to be bothered spelling things out in nice block letters for you.

Whatever you call the wizards opponent, he got 5 coaches votes which elevates the Discussion

You’re doing anything but laughing.

Dear Carlton/Hawks friends (and the rest of you)
I’ve restored as much as I can find for now so please carry on, I’ve handed the thread to Strapping Young Lad so feel free to blame him for everything 🥳

Thank you.
