Don't you love how they think we can't improve without Owies, while the real small forwards in Motlop and Durdin have 12 years left in them.
Ahhh Durdin. It's been two years since I called him Jack Lonie 2.0

With a strong pre-season and some injuries to other Carlton forwards, he might get back to Lonie's level in 2025

The same level as Shultz who cost a 1st and 2nd.

Swings and roundabouts.

Bobby Hill cost us circa pick 40 in the 2023 draft.

So Schultz and Hill for 2023 picks 34 and ~40, and 2024 pick 10.

Not bad for what we're going to get from them for the next 6 years, with one of them already having a Norm Smith Medal under his belt.

Who's talking about Bobby Hill? Did you not pay a 1st and future 2nd for Shultz or not?

And I made a point that with trading and drafting, you win some and you lose some, by referencing his fellow small forward in Collingwood's forward line.

Did Hill only cost us circa pick 40, and is that good value for a Norm Smith Medallist?

Carlton paid very similar for Cerra. They're both as close or far away from being elite in their positions as each other
Eh not really. Cerra was injured this year but was leading our best and fairest up until he got injured with a handful of rounds to go in 2023.

Schulz was just shit (and always was shit).

The point above is accurate though, Pies got Bobby Hill for a steal and it has definitely offset overpaying for Schulz. But that was still a terrible trade. Cerra, while not being a hit out of the park, has not been anywhere near as bad as Schulz' trade.

Cerra has played some great footy for Carlton, are we going to venture into talking shit now?

We’ll you guys know shit players better than anyone so I guess we’ll just have to live with our shit small forward and hope he kicks 90 goals next year to please the simpletons that think that’s the only measurement of a player

Maybe we give Schultz more than a single year before we form a conclusion on the success or otherwise of the trade.

But I do find it ironic that Carlton posters are supporting the Owies trade due to his lack of forward pressure, but downplaying Schultz despite his being recognised by his coaches as the player who applied the best defensive pressure of anyone in his team...

I already said no one mentioned Hill, you still paid a 1st and future 2nd for Shultz, try and stay with the conversation.

Again, that coaches award is for schmuks who don't win anything. It's generally reserved for the fat kid in junior football.

You want us to go easy on Shultz? Will you afford the same courtesy to Durdin and Motlop who are 5 years younger than Shultz

Well it really does depend on whether you think forward line pressure is important, or not.

Because as a casual observer watching Collingwood, I'm not sure that's something a Carlton supporter would notice of Schultz...

They got rid of 33-goal Owies because he DOESN'T do what Schultz does [emoji38]

Not sure the term 'go easy' was used.

The question was asked whether we overpaid for him, and I said I wouldn't be forming a conclusion on that after only his first year at the club.
You can only call them as you see them and if he improves I'll call that as well.

Cerra led the B&F whilst Carlton were in the bottom 6 for much of 2023. Gets injured and bada bing, bada boom, the Blues were soaring. I'd have cashed in on him instead of Kennedy.
