Make no mistake, the Blues would fall over themselves for a player like Schultz if he were made available for trade. He didn't have a great year, but he wasn't helped by having to play tall for a few weeks whilst we were without McStay and Mihocek. Both boys back for pre-season plus Membrey added - we can expect a much better season from Schultz in '25

He was shit at Fremantle too, so we've given him more than one year.
No one is supporting the Owies trade from a forward pressure basis (or they're silly if they are). The Owies trade was simply for cap space reasons. He is a good player. He's a lot better than Shulz that's for sure!

So if that is the prime reason he was exited, and it wasn't due to his lack of defensive pressure, then you've given up your best and most productive player in your weakest position on the ground?

I do admire the bravado in away. Been shit for 30 years. Played in 1 losing prelim the past 25 years and somehow think we’re deluded for having some hope next year. I guess winning a flag 14 months ago would be a slight positive to draw on. If we go shithouse next year we rebuild. Better then rebuilding 17 times this century for nothing
I didn't notice Schitz once last season after observing Collingwood casually
It's OK, he has 10-12 years left on the pies list given his age. We can form an opinion in due course

We have this weird thing called - talented youth. I understand Collingwood wouldn't be aware of this (outside of Daicos). So we're comfortable we can replicate his pressure with younger players coming through at a fraction of the cost.

I saw that ex-Carlton player's book, Zac Tuohy I think his name is. He commented Carlton were big on paying their stars huge money and the rest peanuts, and the terrible effect it had on morale.
Has this changed? Looks like they've pinned their hopes on a core group of "stars" and expect the rest to play as hard without the same level of reecognition.
Fancy being tight on the salary cap you're pitching proven players overboard and relying on rookies to fill the gaps. We did that a few years ago, its a recipe for a rapid fall.

You're just lying now - we went 11-2 in our last 13 games and Cerra played in 9 of them. Missed against the Eagles, Suns, Saints and Dees. The run started before any injury to Cerra and he was a crucial part of that run (including in finals)
Carlton were number 1 in the comp at defending stoppage in 2023 and fell to 16th in 2024. The main difference between the two years was a healthy Cerra. He is that impactful because of his two-way running ability and his spread from the stoppage which players like Kennedy lack. Not to mention what he does offensively with his kicking ability. Again something Kennedy lacks.
Kennedy over Cerra in the current Carlton midfield makes zero sense unless you were trying to sabotage the team

I cant recall a Carlton poster using the word contender except to laugh at yet another ambiguous and self serving piece of nuffery posted. Maybe just stick to the basics - who is going to finish higher in 2025 - the dirty birds or the blues? - because we all know what happenned in 2024...
As for Owies lol just because he kicked more goals than Shitzie playing for peanuts doesn't mean he is good enough to keep a spot on the Carlton list...
