The fact that all year that is worthy of a fine (or suspension) and suddenly now it isnt.
Wouldnt expect you to look at it objectively, but many others have and most came to the conclusion that he was very lucky and that the AFL had essentially given him a free pass.

"The contact was forceful, high and illegal" to use the words of Gerard Whately

Anyhow I'm glad he's playing for the spectacle, and the lack of excuses if we do end up winning.
I dont want your or others opinion, I just want you to "Show me where the AFL "changed the actual rule" just for Cotchin."

So far I would say Cotchin has been the best player in the finals series. His contested work and tackling has inspired the team, he has willed himself to each contest and had an impact in everything he gets to. I'd love it if he could maintain this intensity through the Grand Final. If he can, we'll go close.

Well forceful contact to the head causing concussion after choosing to make contact (none of this line of the ball bs - you can see he moves towards the player and away from the ball) is a minimum fine. That rule has not been changed but how it has been interpreted has been.

Anyhow Cotchin is one of your best players and has certainly proved a lot of people wrong this season. I dont think he's a dirty player so in the overall scheme of things I'm glad he's playing. I just feel sorry for the other guys who got suspended for lesser incidents...or guys that you know couldnt play out the game because he knocked them out.

Thanks. So you admit no rule was changed. That's all I wanted to hear.

Well depends how you want to look at it.
The rule interpretation that was used all year was certainly not used in this circumstance.
So I guess you can say the rule did change, or the interpretation changed. Either way he's one lucky boy.

Must say as a crows fan I was surprised how well Atkins polled at the Brownlow.
He's been a bit of a whipping boy at times this year.
He's a flashy high risk high reward player who can win the ball and be very dangerous. A bit Motlop like. I'd say he has a fair difference between his best and worse so I can understand why he'd frustrate fans but he can be really good.

Jake lever will be the guy. Not only will he be the one stopping/intercepting every forward foray from Richmond, hoping for the spillage. But, lever will enter and take intercept after intercept. Winning norm smith and costing Melb 2 first round draft picks.

One-eyed?
Fans of the 17 other teams have all said it was minimum fine which resulted in suspension.
The AFL changed the rules for the grand final. Not sooking, just stating facts.

If he hadnt had the previous 2 charges, I would agree that he's free to play, but the rules have been bent to allow Richmond half a chance on Saturday.
