Not just on current form, but who do you think will go on and be the best player out of these Young Guns?

Pig's Arse !!!!!!!!!!

a toss up between Adam Goodes and Brad Ottens.

Can't believe 8 people have voted for Trent Croad and no one has voted for Goodes.

Goodes and Ottens will both become Brownlow Medalists, and i struggle to see that happening in Croad.

Warren Tredrea has been an up and coming youngster for 3 years now, and has so far not done anything overly special.

Chris Tarrant is a good footballer, and was just behind Ottnes and Goodes, in my view.

A few rising stars from each club:
Adelaide - Brett Burton
Brisbane - Simon Black, Des Headland
Carlton - Brendan Fevola
Collingwood - Damien Adkins, Nick Davis, Josh Fraser, Ryan Lonie, Chris Tarrant
Essendon - Adam Ramanuaskas, Dean Rioli, Damien Peverill
Fremantle - Paul Haselby
Geelong - Steven King, David Spriggs
Hawthorn - Glen Bowyer, Trent Croad, Jonathan Hay, Nathan Thompson
Kangaroos - Daniel Harris
Melbourne - Cameron Bruce, Brad Green
Port Adelaide - Steart Dew, Nick Stevens, Warren Tredrea
Richmond - Joel Bowden, Brad Ottens, Greg Tivendale
St Kilda - Cayden Beetham, Justin Koschitzke, Brett Moyte
Sydney - Jude Bolton, Adam Goodes, Jason Saddington
West Coast - Ben Cousins, Dean Cox, Chad Fletcher, Michael Gardiner, Daniel Kerr
Western Bulldogs - Nathan Brown, Mitchell Hahn

Thought there were a few who were unlucky to miss out on your poll - Fraser, Cousins, Bowden, King and Black were probably the stiffest to miss out

Des Headland has been a big disappointment in my view. A number 1 draft pick who's had nearly 3 years experience shouldn't be a fringe player like he is. I'd rate Damien Cupido much more highly than him.

I think Croad has the POTENTIAL to be the best player of those in the future, whether he does is another matter. I rate Hay much higher than Croad, just look at Hawthorn's record when Hay is injured, he'd be pretty close to our most valuable player at the club.

I'd also add Brett Johnson for Hawthorn, and Pavlich for Freo.

I'm still not convinced at Fevola's work ethic either, I'd rate Ryan Houhilan before him.

Steven King is only 2 years older than Goodes and Ottens, but in terms of football development, he is way ahead. All-Australian ruckman in 2000, and most likely 2001, he is easily the most dominant big man in the AFL (equal to Matthew Primus who is injured but he is older).
He destroyed Richmond with another magnificent performance.

If you're putting in Fevola, then surely you can put Ryan Houlihan in that list too????

Sorry, I didn't read goalden hawks post before I posted. Hopefully Fevola will learn in time, he showed signs he might against the Lions. On Friday night Archer was simply too strong and too good for him. Fevola, a lot more than Houlihan needs time - a helluva lot of it too.

AHAHAHAH
There is a biased post If ever I have seen one.
How the hell can you put Fletcher and Cox in the same league as Dew,Haselby, goodes and Tredra.
Comon I dont think so.
By the way you forgot Longmuir and Pavlich, 2 players that have more potential in the small toe than Fletcher and Cox have all together.

How was it biased. I went out trying to find the best 5 youngsters from each club. Not neccesarily the best youngsters in the compeittioon.

Obviousbly, it is going to be much easier for me to rattle of the best 5 youngsters at West Coast, then it would be for me to rattle of the best 5 youngsters at any club.

That post wasn't neccesarily the best youngsters in the competition, but the best few at each club.

It has to be between Chris Tarrant and Brad Ottens.

Goodes is a super talent, who always shows his brilliance in flashes, but I rate consistency as a much more important trait.

Even after the 2001 batch of kids are picked up in the draft, Chris Tarrant will still be 20 years old, have played 60+ games and (hopefully) have kicked 60 in a season. Once he "clicks" by producing consistent leads to space and once he can outbustle the likes of Gehrig/Fletcher in a one on one contest, he will be a superstar with the capacity to be one of the best forwards ever. At this stage it is only potential, but even at this early stage he is a friggen mile ahead of Croad, Goodes and Tredrea!

As for Brad Ottens I couldn't split between him and Taz. But the thing is, as good a player he is, I would take Josh Fraser over him anyday! In fact if I had to start and AFL team and I was given the choice of any player in the comp, I would chose Fraser. He will be the best and he has that James Hirdness "everybody loves him" thing going!

WCE, you forgot Nick Riewoldt out of you St Kilda stars. He will be magnificent.

Best young 5
Are you kidding.
Why dont all clubs have there best young 5 up like West Coast.
Freo has the one.
Somone new to the board is going to see 'WOW west coast have 5 star kids on there list, while the majority of clubs have only 1 or 2, this west coast team must be setting the competition on fire".

Hey WCE2000 im about as biased as it comes, but comon dont tell me this wasnt a biased post.

think about it, your a fremantle supporter.

If i asked you to rattle of the best 5 youngsters from every club, it would be much easier for you do Freo's best 5 youngsters, then any other club.

Myself, i am an eagles supporter, so it is much easier for me to rattle of the eagles best 5 youngsters, than any other teams

Hey WCE2000
No offence or anything.
But your post was biased, like all mine are.

And those west caost players you mentioned that are under 21 or 22 are certainly not in the same league as all the other players for the other clubs you mentioned.

Tarrant for me, then Ottens. Tarrant has really sticky hands and seems to have a lot more football nous than say Croad does who relies more on athleticism. I dunno why, but there's something I really like about Tarrant, even if he plays for those ferals! I'd love to have him at Carlton.

Sabre - Just one thing. Collingwood has younger players than yours, where are we on the ladder? And where are you?

By the way...like WCE 2000 said, how is he to know (as much as you might know) about Fremantle?

Can I borrow your crystal ball, the one that says both those players willl win Brownlows?

Because you think Croad wont win a Brownlow - SO WHAT?
A Brownlow doesn't make a great player. Remember Scott Wynd? Peter Wilson? Corey McKernan tied with Hird & Voss?
Now think of Ted Whitten, Leigh Matthews, Wayne Carey. I wonder which 3 you'd want in your side?

Hay a rising star? This guy is already a champion, second only to Fletcher as the best fullback in the game. Going on his form this year, he'll beat Fletcher for the spot in the ALL-AUS side.

Ok where did that come from??

There is allot of difference between quantity and quality.
Just like there is a big difference between a team full of kids and a team full of potential stars.

As your coah said it comes down to a good mix of veterans and youth.

And I wasnt knocking WCE2000 for leaving out sum Freo stars. I was just pointing out that he mentioned young ealge players that seemed very out of place with the other players mentioned.

Kerr better than Haselby???
AHAHAHAHAHHAH
You have got to be joking.
Not only does Haselby collect more possesions.
But his skills are better than kerr.
Kerrs only advantage over Haselby is that he has a better leap.
Yet as far as overhead marks go, Haselby is the stronger one in the one on one contests.

There are not many players in the competion that have as much poise or quick hands as that of haselby.
One look at his pass to Mc Phee on the Weekend highlights how much of a talent he will become and is already.

As far as cousins being better than our whole list.
On current form I would have to say Fletcher is a better player.
And on past record Bell is the better player.
So looks like your wrong there too
:p :p

Remember, Kerr is 2 years younger than Haselby. So it's still hard to compare the two players.

Just because Haselby has better skills now, doesn't mean when both have fully developed that Haselby will have better skills then. Kerr has 2 extra years than Haselby to reach his peak.

THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE THE STUPIDEST THING IVE READ ON THESE BOARDS IN MY 3 MONTH CAREER.

FRASER..AHHAHHAAHHAAHAHAH.

1- ON HIS RUCK ABILITY I WOULD PICK NATHAN THOMPSON 100 TIMES BEFORE ID LOOK TO FRASER AS HE HAS MUCH MORE RUCKING ABILITY AND ABILITY TO CLEAR THE BALL FROM THE CENTRE NOT MENTIONING HIS SUPERIOR STRENGTH ETC.

2- ON HIS GENERAL PLAY THOMPSON HAS FAR SUPERIOR MARKING SKILLS AND IS A MUCH MORE USEFUL FORWARD AT THIS STAGE OF THEIR CAREERS.

3- I CANT SEE WHERE FRASER IS GOING TO DEVELOP. HIS MARKING CANT REALLY GET ANY BETTER AS HE RARELY TAKES CONTESTED MARKS AT ALL, HE GETS PUSHED OFF THE BALL. HE IS NOT A TOP TAP RUCKMAN SO HE WOULDNT BE THE BEST CHOICE AS FIRST UP RUCK.

TO SHOW THAT AMOUNT OF FAITH IN THE KID IS SO ********EN STUPID ITS NOT THAT FUNNY.

ITS ********EN LUDICROUS. ID LIKE TO PLAY THAT SIDE YOU END UP PICKING. LET ME GUESS YOUR 2ND PICK WOULD BE - TARRANT OR LOCKYER. ILL SAY THIS- IF I WAS A MAGPIE FAN ID HAVE OBREE LOCKYER TARRANT ********EN HALF THE LIST OR MORE BEFORE FRASER.

#19 DIEGO BATA

OTTENS IS THE BEST PLAYER THERE BY A MILE AND HE IS A MUCH BETTER RUCK THAN FRASER. CROAD WILL NOT BE A TOP PLAYER UNLESS HE CAN GET MORE CONSISTENT THROUGH BETTER FITNESS.

yeah yeah blah blah blah what ya all saying is good ithink kerr and haselby and all the other young guns you have mentioned is just fine EXCEPT you are missing one player tht WILL be one of the top superstars in the league and although i don't barrack for his team i certainly barrack for him annd he is JESS SINCLAIR
