In 2017, both Hawthorn and the Western Bulldogs were expected to make the Finals, but it wasn't to be, with disappointment for Alastair Clarkson and Luke Beveridge, now things are looking bright for both teams as they both look to contend for Spots in the Top 8 in Season 2018.

Neither feels likely. Bulldogs have a shakey defence and Hawthorn have lost a few players due to retirement and are rather poor depth wise.

First season without Hodge and Gibson. Hoping just to get more games in youth, more competitive and no more blow out losses.
Finals would be a bonus in 2018, I'm hopeful but not counting on it, 2019 onwards we need to be making finals....

Will wait for the draft and trade before making a comment.

I think our position on the ladder shows where we are this year. We definitely aren't bottom 4 category like our start nor are we in the top 4-6 range like we showed during our purple patch. The answer lies somewhere in the middle.

8-12 pending any list management decisions.

I'd say Hawks a chance. I dont think they'll go backwards with an off season in the gym into their youngsters who were obviously the reason fir their improvement through the season. They'll miss Hodge's leadership down back and the young guys will have to take a bit more responsinlbility for their themselves.
I dont see improvement from the Bulldogs and they will likely stay in the position of having a strong midfield who cant cover their weaknesses elswhere.

Hodge made them a 3-5 goal better side. With the potential slide of Burgoyne and Roughead I can't see them making the 8

Dogs won't finish below 10th but I can't pick them, all depends on whether Stringer JJ Libba Dahlhaus etc can find their best form again
