Neither. Both are on a downwards trajectory. I'm expecting my team to finish above them both in 2018.
Given the Dogs age profile care to elaborate on how we are on a downwards trajectory? Collingwood is one team I'm certainly not worried about finishing below.

People generally find it hard to look past the last ten weeks in forming their views of a side.

Richmond made finals three years straight, had a dud season and bounced back to the top four. Similar thing happened to Port and Essendon this year, West Coast in '15, the Dogs in '08, Geelong in '07 and '16...

Most of the Dogs' flag side is still on the list and young. If they recapture form they will be back and if they don't they won't.

Hawks are turning over their list and may find it harder. Neither is without a chance. There are obvious reasons both sucked this year and in neither case is it a lack of talent.

Gibbo barely played and Hodge lost what little athleticism he had left so the retirements, dare I say it, won't hurt too much, but I think it will be a development focused year so who knows. 50/50 for finals imo will have to see what happens at trade week as well. Of the players who may regress Burgoyne would suck, but Puopolo also barely played.
We have a lot of talented talls that should improve, but there are some young mids that we need to start bringing through. Frawley, Stratton, Birchall will be fit again. Really there are so many questions about this team.

Bulldogs need some minor tweaks to make finals again, if Beveridge is deserving at all of his two coach of the year awards he'll get them back in.
