Which players do you think will retire from our club at the end of this year? Players that I believe could go, not necessarily all at once:

1. Peter Matera
2. Dean Kemp
3. Ashley McIntosh
4. Glen Jakovich
5. Ryan Turnball

Added to that, who do you think the club will delist at the end of the season?

My thoughts

Ok, my thoughts, I believe that Kemp, McIntosh and Jakovich will all retire at the end of the year . For those being delisted I believe that Antonowicz, Harding, Wooden, Green, Donnelly and Carroll will be given the flick. Thats a total of 9 players leaving the club, how many does the club have to get rid of? Anyway my reasons for my choices:

Kemp: Will be 32 at the end of the year, has injury problems with his back, just had a young child, does not have to bear the responsibility of being an only captain and retiring.

McIntosh: Only 28 at the end of the season but it looks like his bad knees are going to catch up with him. Will retire early due to injury. :(

Jakovich: Just too slow to keep up with AFL pace now. Will want to retire as someone people remembered as being a great player, not a loafing old git who was too slow for footy.

Delisted Players: Either getting too old and have had it or don't show any signs of playing AFL footy well.

Thats a bit harsh suggesting Green will get delisted. He came off the rookie list late last year and played our remaining 7 games of last season. Was named an emergency for the hawks game and could be a handful player if he can break into the squad.

I can only see Kemp retiring. Bit hard on injured players to say dump them now when they could well play very well in second half of season.
I'm impressed with Travis gaspar in first half..so far.

Team commitment and hardness at the ball though is woeful.

Exactly, he was only an emergency for the game when 15 players are injured and there is only about 28 players to choose from. Says something doesn't it? De-list him I say.

So why don't we delist Humm, and Haynes, and others, because they are young players who need time to develop. Green will not get delisted, or at least he shouldn't. He may have only been an emergency, but he isn't very experienced, and that is better than some other players that have also played a couple of games before. He should stay.

Ok, some people here need a reality check I feel...Green was originally a rookie, whether he was to become a good player no one knew. Yes he was promoted off the rookie list last year but he has down jack sh!t for the club so far and even with all the clubs injury woes he still cant get a game! With the lists being culled at the end of the year someone has to go, Green, you are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Of those mentioned I think Kemp and McIntosh will retire. Peter Matera may have another year. Turnbull will be delisted. Wooden will be traded or delisted. As for Green I think he was close to getting a game this week. He will get his chance before the season is out to show his wares. He worked hard to get promoted from the Rookie list so he must have something to give.

GO EAGLES!

Green has been injured.
He was a basketballer, but changed to footy, hes very talented, tall and agile, he showed great promise last year and has played very well in the WAFL since he got over his injury, the reason he wasnt in the team, is because of injury
no one who has watched him play can say he will get delisted
cummigns, wilson, donnely would go way before him

Kemp looks likely to go. I think Jakovich still has plenty to offer and after 5 or so bad games EVERYONE says he should retire, the Jakovich situation is laughable. Matera is playing fine footy and should be around another year and McIntosh is also close to retirement but i see him playing one more season.

Green definitely should not be delisted, from what i saw of him last year he looks like he has the goods. Wooden, Harding, Donnely, Turnball should all go. Sad for Turnball and its good to see him playing a few games this year.
How many career games does Turnball have?

Kemp - will retire at the end of 2001
Matera - will possibly retire at the end of 2001 due to injury and the teams performance. He won't want to stick around with a team still dwindling in 2002.
Jakovich - still has something to offer and should hopefully be around in 2002.
McIntosh - likewise with Jakovich, he will ease his workload in 2002 but should still be around.
Turnball - I think his days are numbered with the club and will either be delisted or retire at the end of 2001. However I think he may play another season with East Perth.

As for Kasey Green, he's done some good things with East Fremantle, but needs to take the next step and really make a name for himself in the AFL. I agree 100% with Visro's other delistings.
