Sydney for sure

Spend 6 rounds making their supporters cry

Spend 16 rounds making their supporters cheer

Then lose and make their supporters cry again :p

Adelaide- been around for ages, clear path to the finals, got a strong side or Sydney, all in with buddy yet to win, got too much talent yes started shit but thats our own problem

Port, essendon not really expected to do much
Eagles barely got in
'Geelong arent that great, gws will still get a pass. Richmond win a final its a successful year

Not even going to waste my time reading any other posts but OP

If Adelaide does not win the flag this year I think I will have a little breakdown. I will be angry , disappointed bereft . Emotionally fragile. Not sure but this dark cloud could hover for a while. I would lose trust in our players and coaches and our staff. I would question every decision taken or not taken.

Teams that would really be disappointed:
Adelaide - Finished minor premiers and were not far off a similar effort last year before things went awry. Sometimes you just need to strike while the iron's hot.
Geelong - While they still have Selwood and Dangerfield playing top notch footy and a few of the old veterans floating around they would really want to win one.
GWS - This year onward is their real chance to win flags. Have the risk of losing core players like Kelly for next year.
Sydney - They made a GF last year and have been the dominant team since the first 6 rounds of the season.

Teams that would be satisfied with a prelim type performance:
Richmond - Look obviously they'd love to win it all but just winning a final and making a prelim would probably keep them satisfied for this year.

Teams that would be satisfied with a finals win:
Port Adelaide - Could have placed them with Richmond but really does anyone expect Port to win the flag this year? They just haven't beaten top teams. So even a single win would probably be a decent result.
Essendon - Haven't won a final in forever and unlike Richmond - are only a 12 win team and only made the finals on %. A finals win would be a very good result especially since it would need to come against Sydney at the SCG. Come into the finals having won 6 of their last 8 games but no wins against anyone genuinely good but would have some confidence from mid season wins against some of the top 8 sides and of course a 1 point loss to Sydney at the SCG earlier this year.
West Coast - Only just scraped into the 8 and even though they have some veterans that would burn from their 2015 GF and even last year's first up loss I think we all know they just aren't that good this year. Starting 6-2 this year they only managed to win 6 more games for the remainder of the year and come into the finals with unconvincing form. Its hard to know how to look at the win vs Adelaide given how much both teams had at stake.

Geelong clearly. Adelaide and GWS would be grateful to just make a Grand Final.
Naah
I kind of was prepared for our maiden finals series to end in tears, and it did. Dared to dream this year and it will hurt if we dont at least make the big dance.
My membership ticks over regardless and I get Adelaide and Geelong and the Swans have more expectations though. Richmond might have lower expectations but a lot of long sufferring supporters.

Ive got no expectation on Geelong at all - alot of opposition supporters have said all year - take Dangerfield out and they wouldnt make the 8

Only missed opportunity from the Cats was 2013 - lossed by a goal in the PF to the eventual premier -i wouldnt call that a bad effort

14/15/16 - no where near a flag winning team - did a good job making the finalS - won alot of close games by under a goal - some would have suggested by iffy umpiring at times ( the 2 Carlton wins in one year etc )

I think the only time as a supporter when you miss out you would get dissappointed not to make at least the GF - would be say loke Essendon in 99 - when youve got a gun side

I think the Crows ( who i think they will easily account for GWS ) then get a home PF i think would be a little dissappointed if from their they didnt make the GF .

Put it this way - would you put your house on any of the 8 sides making the GF this year - No

Everyone. It's an even season, but no stand out team except Sydney who have to come from 6th. They should beat Essendon first up, but the Dons only lost by a Goddard brain fade last time. If the Bombers beat them the Swans will put this year down to a huge wasted opportunity. The Tigers haven't had injuries, no excuse for Richmond. Geelong hit form and now hit the BYE, our nemesis. The Cats are usually absolutely useless after a BYE. They need to change that, if they beat the Tigers then the GF beckons! Lose and they may find themselves playing the Swans, a team they just cannot play well against!

Haha, this is unbelievable.

Just this past month I have heard that Geelong are no good, rely on Dangerwood too much, have no depth, the worst top four side ever and now everyone expects us to win? Here's the results of a poll that's been running since Feb where all the 'know all's' on here rated Geelongs chances. You cant have it both ways people!

Where do you think the Cats will finish this year?

  1. Premiership

    12.8%

  2. Runner up

  4. Semi Finalist

Spot On - youve hit the nail on the head

All year weve heard that Geel are no good - the worst top 4 side since World War 1 - take their Simmonds advantage - and Dangerfield away from them - and they wouldnt be anywhere near the finals - blah blah

Now that we have qualified - its - Oh this will be a massive choke and underachievement by the Cats if they dont at least make the GF

Hypocrites

As an Adelaide fan I don't expect a flag. We've screwed up too many finals series for me to get cocky regardless of our home and away record.

Geelong need to win it this year or they will not in the Dangerfield era

Can we add Melbourne not making the finals as the years biggest disappointment !!
Don't feel the same way - think we will have a better crack at it next year with a better injury list and continued development of our youngsters. That is before picking up any of Hopper, Smith or Ablett. Time will tell.

of course, ADE & GEE as top 2 will be disappointed if they end up without a premiership, but the way SYD have been playing recently, they have to be favourites and will yet again rue another wasted season if they don't win this premiership. yes, they may need to travel for 3 games if they win all their finals (perhaps not if they manage to get GWS in prelim) but they 0clearly have every other teams measure H&A apart from HAW.....and they don't need to worry about them now.
