Correct me if there's any oversights in these teams... what are your un-parochial opinions? Personally I think the non-Victorians would win by 30-50 points. Generally stronger across the ground IMO.

Well i would agree with you i would see the "non-victorians" winning but in that side alone aren't all of the following victorians:
Hardwick,Leppitsch(U18 VMFL),Scott(VMFL), Johnson, Hall, Lappin(VCFL) and Judd

Hasleby should get a game in the interstate side.

I considered all of Francou, Carey and Hasleby... but I couldn't fit them in.

And you have Mcdonald, Dew and Goodes in there? I wouldn't have Hardwick in there either. I think Monty should take his spot.

Yeah, i would've had Gardiner ahead of McDonald, and definitely Francou ahead of Stevens. But it's all opinion!!!!

This side is designed to beat the opposition. Take McDonald out, and Primus has to carry the ruck all day. Take out Dew, the Vics go defensive and you can't kick goals through the flood. Dew is far and away the best half forward flanker in the AFL. Goodes is there to hopefully minimise the effect of Riewoldt and Kouta, who could quite easily take control of the field if they start taking marks. Those three are all reactive selections. If you look at the midfield, that's where the side goes proactive.

My Interstate side.

Going from that statement, it sounds like your intention was to design two sides, with the Victorian one being beaten, rather than matching up the two best possible line-ups using the available players.

Would have thought Goodwin would sneak in ahead of most named on the bench, paricularly given he can play on the ball or back of need be.

Stocka, don't be silly. Both sides have features designed to both probe weaknesses and defend against them. The interstaters midfield is full of attacking players, to cash in on the fact that they are better in that area. They don't have a tagger because they are relying on being the stronger midfield. You will notice that the Vics do have a tagger in Paul Licuria, to try and combat that.

The Vics have gone tall across half-back to try and exploit a possible weakness in the marking strength of the interstaters. Apart from Tredrea and Riccuito, none of the interstate forward line are particularly strong markers, and Riccuito isn't nearly as good as Kouta, hence Kouta playing down back.

Both teams are designed to beat the other. Can you tell me any star Victorians that are missing? If there are, they're an oversight.

The Vics would win pretty comfortable I think but it would be more comfortable if Andrew Kellaway didn't play.

And I assume you don't think its an oversight cos most people don't but I would say the man who averaged more disposals than anybody else in the league, Scott West would be a more than handy addition on at least the bench in the Vic team

Correct me if i'm wrong but they are based outside of Victoria now, just as Darcy, Hird & Buckley to mention three are all based in Victoria but certainly weren't born there.

I'd include Francou & maybe another tall defender in my "non-vic" team. Gardiner would also be ahead of Beau IMO. Surely Ben Hart, Montgomery (both AA this year) or Pickett would be a better HBF than Goodes. I'd also prefer anyone the BBBBUBH at full forward for the "non-vic" team, Lynch, Chad Cornes, even Carey.

For the vic's surley there is a better BP than Campbell and someone better than Hayes for a starting 22 spot.

presti as he has only let 21 goals thru out of 25 games and plays tredrea to the shi!house, clement well you all know why, tarrant for pace and goalkicking, brent harvey as small fast and kicks goals, as does leon davis, burns for toughness and rock solid.... played good against port, crows and lions in the finals... would do so again. fletcher gets to many goals kicked on him, so i took him out, kresitchski or whatever... hasnt done jack... could add a few more, but ive seen proberly everysingle afl game this year, and this team is the one id have, most of them could rotate... i added pace, goal kickers, reliable defenders, and an extra tall, fast good kicking forward.... this team would win easily.

If Leon Davis is in the best 23 players in Victoria then it's time to give up. Obviously a Collingwood supporter but even so that is just stupid. I guess you only could mange to find room for 7 Collingwood players so atleast you weren't showing any bias

Btw that team would get kicked off the park by Brisbane without using any players from the 5 other non-victorian clubs.
