whoever gets it - need rigorous selection criteria, interview process etc

even a proven coach like Clarkson needs to spell out in an interview exactly why they want the Cwood gig and what are the partic challenges facing the head coach at Cwood and how these would be approached

Coaching Cwood is its own special gig like no other

Has Collingwood ever actually interviewed for a new coach?
Will hopefully be a first.

don't think any of the following went through any sort of interview / selection

Buckley, Malthouse, Shaw, Matthews, Rose, Cahill, Erwin (briefly), Hafey (great coach, no luck), Weidemann (legend but no coach), Mann, Rose etc etc

Have it on good info that Tom Hafey had at least two cups of tea with club administrators before his appointment.

Not sure if that constitutes an interview process.

I’d like to see Buckley as our coach in ‘22. That would likely mean making finals and winning one, which would be fantastic. * going to the footy and seeing losses just so we get a different coach.

by Cwood standards that would be a rigorous selection process - which t-shirt was Tom wearing?

The usual tight-fitting and chesty number, but he was wearing pants. So quite the formal occasion.

If the board decides to move Bucks on, then I at least hope there is integrity in the process to recruit a new head coach.

I'm not in favour of selecting an untried assistant - if that were the case we may as well stick with Bucks for another 2 years.

My personal choice would be to target an experienced person to lead the club for the next 5 years, and to me its either Clarkson, or Don Pyke as the stand out people that might be available. The other coaches which I would be interested but unlikely to receive much interest from would be Adam Simpson, or Luke Beverage.

I did consider also that someone such as Michael Voss might be a better coach second time round with his experience with Brisbane and now at Port Adelaide for the past 3-4 years.

Ross Lyon

Reportedly Lyon has come out and said he is not interested in coaching again. Don't have the source just thought I read that somewhere.

Personally its a big no from me. From what I have seen at St Kilda and Freo, his game plan isn't sustainable - very negative style and find him a very dour person.

He used to call in on my dad sometimes for a cup of tea.
