We often talk about strongest premiership sides and weakest premiership sides - but a topic seldom discussed is the strength of the minor premiership sides.

Which minor premier do you rate as the weakest and why?

Probably Freo 2015. They had a percentage of just 118 and struggled to get to a prelim. West Coast and Hawthorn's that year were 148 and 158

Freo won just 4 matches the following season.

2nd worst is Adelaide 05
Also had Houli not botched that kick in rd 17 in the dying stages, Richmond would have won and Freo would have finished 5th. Very close top 4 that year.

Freo 2015. Horrible bunch. Were brilliant in their first 8 games. Produced marvellous Football. Horrid after that meandering their way to a number of wins, getting lucky in a few. The Swans should have toppled them in week 1 of the finals missing about 5-6 top quality players { Buddy either went off injured or didn't start } and kicked themselves out of the game. The match was at Pattersons obviously.

Abysmal bunch.

Port were pretty rubbish in 2002 also - WHEN it came to finals. No question the mighty Magpies were switched on and brought the intensity in that epic Friday Night encounter. Ferocious. Beautiful stuff. Port struggled the next week to get past the Bombers then got the s**t kicked out of them the next week by powerhouse Brizzy.

Their finals was atrocious after going 18-4 throughout the home and away season.

Buddy missed the 2015 finals due to mental health issues

Richmond 2018 by a walk. Many Richmond fans voted Collingwood as the weakest runner up which by that logic means as minor Premiers Richmond must have been incredibly bad.
Richmond of 2018 were not the weakest Minor Premiers. They finished 2 games clear of 2nd with 18 wins and the highest percentage of the year with 136.1%. Not the best of this lot, but there are teams with a worse resume on this list than that.

And a lot of the Richmond fans that voted for Collingwood as the weakest runner up probably did that so that they can get a reaction like this out of a Collingwood fan like you.

I am not a fan. I am a supporter.

Cats 08 easy. Average losing margin of 14 goals, who gives a s**t how many games you won?
Similarly Collingwood 2011. Pushed a side in round 8 and then lost to them by 96 points in the last H&A round. Have you ever seen a minor premier degenerate so drastically?

Fremantle in 2015 was just one of those weird things. We beat them at WA in a prelim and were on top nearly the entire game, but they didn't look like a top 4 team let alone the minor premier.

Probably Freo. From memory they won a heap of games by pretty narrow margins at home to start the year and got exposed relatively badly as the season wore on. Were well behind Hawthorn and West Coast that year and maybe even (depending on the time) Sydney and Richmond too. Adelaide 05 kinda similar I guess but the gap between them and Sydney/West Coast/St Kilda was pretty narrow unlike 2015.

Adelaide 17 won less games but that season was very close, they still felt like the best team for basically the whole year.

Probably Freo 15 or Adelaide 05. Not particularly strong years and neither team had amazing records or made the GF. Port 02/03 in the same boat but they won 18 games two years in a row and had to contend with the great Lions side. Geelong 08 get the award for the biggest choke finishing 4 games and 30% clear of anyone and not winning the GF.

Close season. Eagles missed first by 2 points, Hawks/Sydney also by 4

Fremantle were the best team by far by round 14, however we absolutely pumped them in Tasmania, There were some pretty sore boys by round 16/17, If they were sitting at 12th I think someone said they would of sent half the team to Surgery. Fyfe needed shoulder surgery and they were really worried leading into finals they had a couple of players who were pretty cooked and sore. They also had a pretty brutal travel scedule that season, even for a WA team.
