I would be leaning towards Fraser at this stage, I really hope Heath Scotland doesn't get dropped because his form in the second half of the year has been probably better than Buckley's.

Thoughts.

I wouldn't bring Richo in.
We will be playing against eithe the crows or the demons, neither of which have a tall forward line.
Presti and wakelin would be able to cover the tallest forwards from each of these teams.

I would think that Bucks will be the only player to come into the team.

I wouldn't even bother bringing Bux back at all especially if you play us. Bruce killed him last time ;).

I'm not sure Bruce can claim credit for all those unforced errors Buckley made that day - he had a shocker.

In: Buckley reason obvious
Richardson: can play either end (and better ruckman than Fraser) and despite his limitations is in form

Out: Scotland - its a cruel world but Molloy is more value as an impact player. Last week I would have said O'Bree but he redeemed himself against Port
Fraser - sadly he has been carried for too many weeks and he has got worse - I wouldn't be surprised if the O-P was back.

In: Buckley.

Out: Steinfort.

No offence to Steiners, he was good on a hard night, but both our potential opponents are highly skillful sides. We don't need another gutsy tagger who turns it over, these blokes will tear us up with rebounds.

Fraser should stay in to provide the extra tall option-he is quicker and more skillful than Richo. Both Melbourne and Adelaide have short defenses, but they are quick-we need quick talls to expose them. Even out of form, they have to cover Fraser or he'll cut them up. Fraser/Tarrant/Roca will stretch and exhaust our opponent's tall defensive options, leaving us with a productive mismatch somewhere.

If its Adelaide we should consider including McGough for a little more midfield grunt against their awesome centre trio. I know this goes against my Steinfort argument (McGough ain't pretty by foot) but he is great by hand and more positive than Steinfort. In this case Molloy might make way.

Scotland is hard quick and skillful, he should stay in. Molloy is a hard man, which is always useful in finals (especially against rugged sides like Adelaide), but with his lack of fitness he is asking to be exploited for pace and endurance. Also he is not part of the "tall attack" equation because he doesn't kick goals anymore, in form or out.

I'd love McGough and/or Cole just to get a taste of finals, it would be sooooo good for their development, but its too cut-throat at this stage to pick them purely for long term reasons. McGough is worth a punt if we face Adelaide, but Cole may have to wait.

I would rather Freeborn be dropped...but it ain't gonna happen. :(

Obvious choice here is Molloy.

Josh is copping flack from all angles, but he is providing more than D9. Josh is the sort of player that could bang through 5 goals in a Preliminary Final (and have every media person kiss his arse), whereas Moll most probably wouldn't, although he'd set up a couple.

Scotland should be in our starting 22 all the time. Steiner should go before Heath.

I'm glad we aren't on the selection panel - two weeks would not be enough time to get a consensus!

All I'd really say is don't drop Fraser.

I feel like I am the only one that can see past his small, but noticeable form slump.

The boy will become a man and Captain our Club. He is also capable of turning games now and the week's rest will be very beneficial!

I can see past his form slump - no problems. Next year and beyond he will be a super player (so too will Richard Cole, but I digress) - once he has filled out and we have decided where on the field he should play. But reputation and potential should not decide who plays in the finals.

On the other hand he is high profile and dropping him would feed the media wolves, perhaps undermining the whole campaign.

Tough decision.

Now that we know who our opposition is, Steinfort will play. Adelaide have a fantastic midfield and we will need another run- with player.

Yep, hate to see Molly go, gotta luv him (dunno why) but you'd have to drop the guy with the three possession game, wouldn't you?
