This is a personal one before the dees do there own you can argue the points on each player as you please.. i think it has to be noted that you can probably take 10-20 % off each rating as there were alot of goals and possesions won purely on strength

Bartram- Solid without being brilliant, did his job as always , beat his man tackled well

Tapscott- interesting one tapscott.. some of his kicking is excellent.. some not so good.. takes chances , is strong brave.. will be a super player in 2-3yrs.. average game though

Grimes- his kicking in the first qtr was pathetic.. noticed it less in the last 3 qtrs.. really needs to work on his decision making an then skill under pressure

Rivers- ive given him some flack but he was solid again.. i re-iterate that he needs frawley and garland both in the side but rivers was good did his job well

Frawley- still working his way back to his best not even close to his all australian form yet, starting to get some run an carry going an will be better for the run

Garland- pretty good again seems to be a very good spoiler one on one.. he will be a fantastic defender when he puts on more size.. ok game

Bail- super impressed with this kid.. his run and carry and skills were excellent best game ive seen him play.. he keeps surprising me and has probably well earned his spot in the best 22 for now

Sylvia- sylvia was ok but im not sure he was brilliant, dominated the game with his strength but needs to do this more consistently against the bigger teams to fullfill his potential

Moloney- tough, hard, won clearances, kicked goals, showed great leadership on the field and bounced back magnificently.. 3 brownlow votes all his id say

Trengove- super skills this kid, good enough to play inside and outside and doesnt mind trying to take an overhead mark.. played a really good mature game today looks at home in the heat of the contest

Gysberts- probably his worst game for melbourne which is funny cuz he was playing against alot of kids.. probably looked worse because the other midfielders were so so dominant

Jones- he was excellent today.. really copped some flak from blokes on here early on but has really done alot to change his perception in the last cpl of weeks... his kicking was clean his contested work was good ran carried and was all round pretty good

Morton- didnt have a massive impact but still ended up kicking 3.. he can be a real target on the wing when he bulks up and i still mantain he will be a gun when he gets some real match fitness going

Bennell- shows flashes of brilliance this kid and has good awareness and close in skill , stil flashes in and out of game but was reasonably good.. might not have been as good with stronger blokes to contend with

Davey- davey was pretty good, shock horror he was played up forward and looked super dangerous.. WAKE UP BAILEY AND DO IT MORE OFTEN

Jamar- his ruckwork has to be as good as anyone elses in the competion.. could kick 40 goals in a year if he was accurate but his tapwork is just majestic super important to our fortunes

Martin- didnt do much at all martin but made a contest and played in all zones on the ground so did his job

Wonnaemiri- good without being brilliant.. still working his way back to match fitness but adds alot of tackling and inferred pressure in our forward line

Dunn- really didnt impact the game at all dunn seems to be out of form.. petterd and newton knocking on the door

Green- he was ok green.. took alot of marks in the fifty and on another day would have kicked 5 but was innacurate.. still he looks good when he is left 1 out in the fifty for a long time

Jurrah- subbed off at 3 qtr time after kicking 3 from memory.. this kid has so much potential its scary.. i reckon he was subbed off cuz the job was done

Watts- subbed on at 3 qtr time, cpl of really nice things followed by some really bad things.. im convinced all of his troubles are between the ears.. seems to struggle to understand his role and also needs to work on his leading cuz i think he doesnt always lead to the best areas and looks a little lost.. maybe some time in the 2's wont be the worst thing that happens to him

Ill finish on this ... gold coast really couldnt play the real good press against us and we looked good because we had a hell of alot of space...our forward line looked super dangerous again because we kept blokes in there deep all day.. hope he doesnt go back to the other style again were we play off half back

this game showed that aussie and bennell are gonna be stayers unless something goes wrong. Good to see

hardly anything watts' did was "really bad" ie. didn't cost us goals

the only thing that was average he did was **** up that bounce on the final siren iirc

Right after he took that strong contested mark from the kick in he shanked the kick, turned it over which resulted in a Swallow goal.

Agree with most reviews, although I beg to differ a little on Tapscott. Thought his decision making was very good today. Not his best game but he's a highly effective player. Will be Supercoach gold in his prime if you're into that.

Also Bail has gone (in my eyes) from spud, to handy, to vital... all in the space of 12 months. Really impressive.

ah forgot about that, i must have been too busy basking in the glory of that mark :p

i do remember as he played on thinking, where is a link man running past for him to handball to?

Watts has taken some strong mark the last few weeks.

Only a matter of time before he puts it all together.

Bit hard on Gysberts - thought he was really good.

personally i didnt think he was that good but thats just holding him to his other games.. no doubt he will be a fantastic player just wasnt his finest yday

Wet ball/ground could have had a little something to do with it ...

Not sure about THE kick or what he was trying to do, but he wasn't the only one who made dodgy kicking decisions on the day - as our man Dean has already lamented elsewhere.

He just seemed to be on the bottom of a lot of packs - along with Moloney. He gets quite a few short handballs, knock-ons and sheperds etc. which sometimes go un-noticed.

You are right - he has certainly set a high standard early though.

im not sayin through lack of effort he was certainly in getting dirty he seems to love i just dont think he was as clean as usual... im so used to seeing him get the ball in one touch and give it off , our clearance work ( MIDFIELD ) is gonna be so good in 2 years its scary
