Freo easily.

Carlton will do well to just maintain their position over the next 2 years. probably 7 of their best 10 players will be gone either end of this year or next, means they will need guys like Fisher, SPP, Setterfield etc to step up into key roles and guys who have hardly played, Dow, Philp, Stocker etc will need to step up into the roles the second stringers were playing.

Freo have already moved their younger guys this year into key roles, Brayshaw, Cerra, Taberner, Ryan and Serong played pivitol roles, they are much further along the developement path, this should be pretty clear when you look at the average age and games experience of the 2 teams, Carlton putting out one of the oldest teams each week and Freo one of the youngest.

Cripps, Walsh, Curnow, Weitering, Mcgovern are leaving this year or next?

What a ridiculous statement.

One of these is not like the others.

Sub Gov for Harry, and add Docherty, Martin, Setterfield and now Williams.

Our list is in decent shape despite what Bigfooty will tell you, and we won’t have any Mundy or Walters sized holes within the next 3 seasons.

And key defenders.
Key defenders? Freo conceded less points Carlton this year with ALL of their first choice key defenders missing all or most of the season.

Pearce, Hamling, Logue, Ryan, Cox. We can’t even fit them all in the same team!

Carlton.

They have the umpires on their side.
You sure about that?

Freo has a much better midfield.
But our kpps are sorted back and front.
Freos backs are really solid the front half is not as star packed. Tabs this year was really good. If jesse hogan recaptures his form then freo have us covered easily. Will depend on what we can add this year to our list.
Not much in it. I guess freo are expecting to play finals next year and if we don’t we have failed in the rebuild.
They also have a fair home ground advantage.

Except jones and Weitering won more one on ones than all of them combined. It’s not even a debate how much better they are than those 5 you named. The problem at Carlton is def through the middle and game plan which is why the opposition get more opportunities against the defence 1 on 1.
